Job description
Reports to: Head of Finance
Mazu are seeking a versatile finance professional to manage the financial operations, cost management, and reporting for our clients dry bulk fleet, while assisting with broader corporate accounting functions. This role serves as a crucial cross-departmental hub, collaborating with Technical, Procurement, Operations, and Chartering teams, to ensure accurate tracking of vessel operating costs, voyage expenditures, and corporate financial transactions.
Core Responsibilities
- Vessel & Fleet Accounting
- Track and review voyage revenues, operational costs, and ship management invoices.
- Allocate expenditures accurately across specific vessel cost centers and budgetary lines.
- Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and coordinate vendor payouts.
- Generate monthly fleet financial performance reports.
- General Finance & Operations
- Execute daily payment processing, vendor payment notifications, and bank/ledger reconciliations (AR/AP).
- Handle standard journal entries, transaction documentation, and standard file maintenance.
- Manage fiscal year-end closing processes for maritime accounts.
- Interface professionally with banking institutions, clients, and vendors.
- Audit, Compliance & System Improvement
- Prepare necessary schedules and evidence to support internal and external audits.
- Maintain strict adherence to regulatory accounting standards and internal workflows.
- Assist with accounting software updates, digital transition initiatives, and process efficiency upgrades.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience; background in the maritime/shipping sector is highly advantageous.
- Education: A degree in accounting, ACCA qualification, or equivalent certification is preferred (but not mandatory).
- Technical Skills: Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with ShipNet software is a distinct advantage.
- Competencies: Strong eye for detail, clear communication, collaborative mindset, and proactive learning agility.
