The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The IEA seek opportunities to work with an increasing number of non-members of growing importance to the world economy. The Agency aims to foster the contribution of the energy sector to economic development and environmental sustainability.

The IEA seeks to recruit Senior Analysts for its Regional Cooperation Centre in Singapore (“the Centre”), The Centre extends the IEA’s engagement and influence in Southeast Asia and beyond. Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions in the world, and a key driver of global energy demand. The region heavily influences the global energy landscape in the decades to come, including prospects for sustaining energy security and meeting climate targets.

In close collaboration with staff in IEA Headquarters in Paris, the Centre undertakes substantive work across several key workstreams, including: bilateral engagement with countries in the region; regional training and capacity building programmes; the scale-up of renewables and regional power trade; the deployment of energy technologies, innovation and secure supply chains; and overcoming region-specific clean energy investment challenges.

The Senior Energy Analysts will lead the analysis of energy trends and policies to help Southeast Asian countries in their efforts to scale up renewable energy and develop secure, affordable and highly decarbonized power sectors, on energy Technology, Innovation and secure supply chains across the energy sector in the Southeast Asia region and oil and gas security.

The successful candidates will have a strong analytical background related to electricity policy, energy technology and innovation, oil and gas security, and a proven track-record in drafting reports and briefings under tight timelines, translating complex technical questions into accessible messages to non-expert audiences and high-level decision-makers.

They will undertake the substantive work of the Centre for power and system integration, under the guidance and management of the Head of the Centre and in close collaboration with teams across the Agency based in Paris.

  • Lead the quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy trends and policies at the regional and country level, including analysis and policy recommendations to help Southeast Asian countries in their efforts to scale up renewable energy and develop secure, affordable and sustainable power sectors; scale up energy technology supply chains including innovation, R&D and critical minerals.
