The Team
The Policy Strategy Partners (PSP) team sits within Netflix’s Global Affairs function as a global, central group of deep policy specialists.
PSP provides substantive advice, industry and business acumen, strategic vision, and global connectivity to regional public policy teams and the broader business.
We work closely with Global Affairs regional leads and cross‑functional partners in Content, Legal, Product, Communications, and Marketing to:
- Shape Netflix’s global policy priorities and business strategies
- Ensure strategies are locally resonant and aligned with cultural, legal, and regulatory realities
- Lead engagement with civil society and industry organizations on tech and media policy
- Within PSP, the Content Policy & Online Safety function focuses on how content, product features, and regulatory frameworks intersect across our portfolio, with a particular emphasis on kids, families, and broader online safety expectations.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Content Policy & Online Safety for a hybrid role based in APAC . This role blends content policy and online safety subject‑matter expertise, with a focus on sensitive content, media regulation, and emerging safety frameworks across the region.
You will:
- Serve as a strategic advisor on content and online safety issues in APAC
- Work closely with Content, Product, Legal and Global Affairs teams to anticipate and navigate evolving regulatory, cultural, and societal expectations
- Help ensure our storytelling and product experiences for members, especially kids and families, are both creatively robust and responsibly delivered
This role requires comfort with ambiguity, excellent judgment, and the ability to move quickly and autonomously while being an effective collaborator.
Role Overview
As Senior Manager, Content Policy & Online Safety, APAC, you will:
- Lead APAC‑focused content and online safety policy strategy within PSP, serving as a key regional expert on sensitive content, online safety regulation, and media frameworks
- Translate global policy and regulatory developments into actionable strategies and guidance for local content and product teams
- Provide nuanced, context‑specific advice on titles and features from concept through launch and beyond, with a focus on cultural sensitivities, societal norms, and regulatory constraints
- Help define and articulate Netflix’s policy positions and approach to online safety and sensitive content in APAC, particularly for kids and family viewing and games
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Policy Development
- Translate global and regional policy trends (online safety, media regulation, content standards) into clear strategies for APAC.
- Develop frameworks and guidance for sensitive content and online safety that can be applied consistently across APAC markets, while respecting local nuance.
- Contribute to broader tech and media policy work within PSP (e.g., consumer protection, cultural policy) where it intersects with content and online safety.
2. Content Policy & Creative Support
- Partner with APAC content teams to identify, anticipate, and navigate cultural, societal, and political sensitivities in titles.
- Provide local, regional and global context to creative teams, helping them navigate the full lifecycle of content (from concept and production through launch, promotion and beyond).
- Assess potential policy and regulatory risks associated with content and help devise creative, pragmatic solutions that protect both creative expression and the business.
