Back End Developer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for building secure, scalable, and reliable digital platforms.

The successful candidate will design and develop modern backend services, APIs, and cloud-native solutions supporting enterprise-scale digital products. You will work closely with product managers, business analysts, QA engineers, and DevOps teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, designing scalable architectures, and applying modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations.

• Build secure and high-performance applications using modern backend technologies.

• Develop RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and event-driven architectures.

• Contribute to system architecture design, technical documentation, and engineering standards and optimise backend systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.

• Participate in Agile development practices including Scrum, Kanban, TDD, pair programming, and continuous refactoring.

• Develop automated tests and maintain strong engineering quality standards.

• Work with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

• Build and deploy applications using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Work with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Develop secure applications aligned with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.

• Implement API security best practices and authentication mechanisms.

• Support integration with enterprise platforms and digital services.

Essential Skills & Experiences

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Strong backend development experience using JavaScript / TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS or similar backend frameworks
• Experience building and integrating APIs such as REST APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, Swagger / OpenAPI documentation and cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) will be essential
• Hands-on experiences with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes as well as CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or equivalent
• Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) as well as NoSQL technologies ( MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB)
• Any prior hands-on with C# / .NET Core backend development, Java, Python or Go highly regarded
• It will be great if you have had exposure to Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CloudFormation or monitoring and observability such as Prometheus, Grafana or ELK Stack.
