Floor Manager — Fabrication & Automation Operations

POSITION SUMMARY

The Floor Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring productivity, quality, safety, and timely delivery of projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge in sheet metal fabrication, conveyor systems, and industrial automation, together with leadership capabilities to supervise production teams and coordinate with engineering and project departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Workshop Operations

• Manage and oversee daily production activities within the fabrication and assembly workshop.
• Plan, organise, and monitor manpower, resources, and production schedules to achieve project deadlines.
• Ensure efficient execution of sheet metal fabrication, conveyor assembly, and automation projects.
• Monitor work progress and resolve operational issues to minimise downtime.
• Coordinate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Procurement, and Production teams to ensure smooth workflow.

Fabrication & Assembly Management

• Supervise fabrication activities including cutting, bending, welding, machining, and assembly processes.
• Oversee conveyor system assembly and customised automation equipment fabrication.
• Ensure fabrication and assembly work is carried out according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Review Bills of Materials (BOM), fabrication drawings, and project requirements before production.
• Support installation and commissioning activities when required.

Quality Control & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and quality issues.
• Monitor rework, material usage, and production efficiency.
• Promote lean manufacturing and best engineering practices.

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead, train, and supervise technicians, welders, fabricators, and assembly personnel.
• Allocate work assignments and monitor employee performance.
• Foster teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
• Conduct regular toolbox meetings and performance reviews.
• Ensure employees are adequately trained and follow work instructions.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce workplace safety standards and company policies.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Promote good housekeeping and 5S practices.
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and corrective actions.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

• 5+ years of working experience in sheet metal fabrication, conveyor systems, and industrial automation.
• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within manufacturing or engineering operations.
• Experience managing workshop operations, production teams, and project execution.
• Experience in system integration, machinery manufacturing, or automation industries is highly preferred.

Language Requirements

• Proficiency in English and Arabic.
