Role summary

Principal Engineers at Matchii are responsible for defining the technical vision, architecture, and data foundations that power the future of service delivery.

They define and drive Matchii's long-term technical vision, partnering closely with founders, product leaders, and engineering teams to translate business strategy into scalable platforms and durable competitive advantages.

Principal Engineers solve the company's most complex technical challenges, lead architectural decisions across teams, and build the foundations that enable Matchii to scale its ecosystem of customers, service providers, and partners.

What You'll Own

Technical Vision & Architecture

• Define and drive Matchii’s long-term technical architecture across platform, data, and intelligence systems.
• Partner closely with founders and product leaders to translate business strategy into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Lead architectural decisions that improve scalability, reliability, performance, and developer velocity.
• Identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and create reusable platform capabilities.

Platform, Data & AI Foundations

• Design and evolve the infrastructure that powers Matchii’s marketplace, workflow, and intelligence layers.
• Drive the development of scalable data platforms, event-driven architectures, and AI-native capabilities.
• Establish technical foundations that enable intelligent matching, automation, recommendations, and future AI-powered products.
• Ensure data quality, observability, security, and platform reliability at scale.

Engineering Leadership

• Mentor and develop senior engineers, staff engineers, and technical leaders across teams.
• Raise the bar for engineering excellence through architecture reviews, technical standards, and best practices.
• Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for the company’s most complex technical challenges.
• Foster a culture of ownership, experimentation, continuous learning, and high-quality execution.

Cross-Functional Impact

• Drive alignment across engineering, product, design, and business teams around technical priorities and company objectives.
• Lead high-impact initiatives that span multiple teams and product areas.
• Collaborate with customers, partners, and stakeholders to understand evolving market needs and translate them into platform capabilities.
• Influence company strategy through technology, data, and AI-driven insights.
