Operations Manager

Our client, a dynamic international supply chain and logistics company, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Operations Manager to lead and grow its regional operations. The successful candidate will have a strong operational background in sea freight, including imports, exports, and customs, together with proven leadership capability and an established network within the logistics industry. This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence across the team, maintaining high service levels, and supporting commercial growth through the expansion of the client portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end import and export sea freight operations, including cross trades & customs
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, shippers, and partners
• Take full ownership and accountability for shipments and operational processes
• Take the lead in providing quotes to clients on both imports & exports
• Develop and grow the region through new client acquisition and account management
• Maintain and expand relationships with shipping lines, trucking companies and other logistics suppliers
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and timelines
• Manage, coach and support team members, including staffing and performance oversight
• Ensure accurate and timely updates in CargoWise and other internal systems based on existing workflows
• Coordinate effectively with internal departments and international offices
• Resolve operational challenges, disputes and escalations proactively and efficiently

Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding
• Strong knowledge of import/export processes and customs regulations
• Extensive experience in sea freight (FCL/LCL, import/export, cross trades and customs)
• Proven track record in rate negotiation and supplier management
• Experience in pricing, building quotes and margin breakdown
• Experience in business development and client relationship management
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a strong track record
• Experience with CargoWise is a strong advantage
• Established network within the logistics industry (shipping lines, truckers, warehousing etc)

System Knowledge :

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• CargoWise (preferred)
• General IT proficiency and online research skills
