Mobile Applications Developer using Android

About the Role

Be responsible for analysis, design, development, implementation and post-live support of an Android Mobile application.

Responsibilities

  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code
  • Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
  • Deploy changes & releases into Production

Qualifications

  • Poly or bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science or Engineering; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of work experience

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
  • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
  • Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch”
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
  • Knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as Biometrics (Facial Recognition / Fingerprint / Iris) is a plus
  • Familiarity with agile based development methodologies
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimization
  • Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as SVN / Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Must have good written and oral communications skills and a strong team player with a flexibility to adjust to changing situations.
  • Must have strong process disciplines, a quality focus with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be pro-active and be responsible.
