Senior Project Manager (Payment)

We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead strategic payments transformation initiatives for a leading banking institution. In this high-impact role, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex payments programmes, driving modernisation of payment platforms, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships across technology, operations

Key Responsibilities Programme Delivery & Governance

• Lead delivery of technology change in the Payments domain, including prioritisation of demand, scope/budget/timeline management, project governance, and delivery using Group frameworks and tools

• Drive end-to-end migration of payment flows across customer segments, including Financial Institutions and Correspondent Banking relationships

• Manage portfolio financials, including cost estimates, budget tracking, and resource capacity planning to achieve agreed outcomes Oversee test and release management, ensuring optimised test plans, quality assurance, and automation uplifts

• Manage relationships with vendors and third-party service providers

• Take ownership of the programme's risk profile and risk appetite, leading risk-related decisions and representing the programme in governance and risk

• Identify, monitor, and escalate risks and issues, including challenging and influencing to resolve

Key Requirements Experience & Domain Knowledge

• 8+ years of experience in Programme/Project Management in the financial services industry, with at least 5 years in the payments domain

• Proven experience in delivering large-scale payments transformation programmes, including legacy platform replacement or payment gateway/orchestration solutions

• Track record of delivering complex technology projects in the Payments/Cards domain, including Payment Switching, Cash, Cards payment

• Familiarity with rail-agnostic payment architecture principles, API-led modernisation, and cloud-native payment platforms is highly desirable

• Programme management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) are highly desirable

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical mindset.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for senior audiences
