Software Engineer - QA Performance Testing (m/f/d)

Key Responsibilities *

Main duties and day-to-day tasks expected from the resource

• Design, develop, and execute performance testing strategies for digital banking applications, mobile banking, internet banking, APIs, and microservices.
• Define and validate Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) including response time, throughput, scalability, concurrency, availability, and resilience.
• Develop performance test scripts and workloads using JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, or equivalent tools.
• Execute load, stress, spike, endurance, failover, and capacity testing across applications and APIs.
• Analyze application performance bottlenecks across UI, API Gateway, microservices, middleware, databases, and infrastructure layers.
• Monitor applications using observability and APM tools to identify root causes of performance degradation.
• Collaborate with development, architecture, DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, and database teams to optimize platform performance.
• Validate performance of mobile banking, internet banking, onboarding journeys, payments, and corporate banking services under peak load conditions.
• Produce detailed performance reports, recommendations, and executive summaries for release approvals and production readiness reviews.
• Support capacity planning, volumetric modelling, and performance benchmarking activities.

Required Skills *

Primary technical and functional skills

• Strong expertise in Performance Testing, Load Testing, Stress Testing, Endurance Testing, and Capacity Planning.
• Hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, Gatling, or similar performance engineering tools.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs, Microservices, Mobile Applications, and Web Applications.
• Experience designing test workloads based on TPS, concurrency, user journeys, and volumetric requirements.
• Strong understanding of API performance, database performance, JVM tuning, connection pooling, caching, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of API Gateways such as Kong Azure APIM.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Dynatrace or Azure Monitor.
• Strong SQL and database performance analysis skills.

Required Experience / Knowledge Areas *

Specific domain or industry knowledge required

• 5+ years of experience in Performance Engineering and Non-Functional Testing.
• Experience testing high-volume banking, payment, digital onboarding, lending, corporate banking, or financial services platforms.
• Experience validating enterprise APIs and microservices handling hundreds to thousands of TPS.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures deployed on Azure and AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, AKS, EKS, and containerized environments.
• Understanding of banking SLAs, service resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability requirements.
• Experience participating in release readiness, CAB approvals, and production go-live assessments.

Good-to-Have Skills

Additional skills that are an advantage but not mandatory

• Experience with SRE practices and platform observability.
• Knowledge of Kafka, Event Hub, MQ, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with mobile application performance testing and device performance profiling.
• Exposure to security testing, penetration testing, and API security validation.
• Experience with CI/CD integration using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
• Understanding of FinOps, cloud cost optimization, and infrastructure sizing.

Certifications Required

• BlazeMeter/JMeter Certification (Preferred)
• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) Preferred
• AWS Cloud Practitioner Preferred
• Certified Agile Tester (Preferred)
