Job description

Company Description Why Statkraft?

Statkraft has been making clean energy possible for more than a century. Today, we are Europe’s largest renewable energy producer and a global company in energy market operations. We believe renewable energy is central to addressing climate change, and we work every day to help build a world powered by clean energy. Joining Statkraft means contributing to meaningful work, developing in an international environment and helping shape the future of renewable energy.

Statkraft Germany is a leading renewable energy company and a key part of Statkraft’s European business. Since 1999, we have developed, owned and operated a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets across Germany, including onshore wind, solar, hydropower, biomass, battery storage and emerging green hydrogen projects. Alongside power generation, Statkraft Germany is active in energy trading, market optimisation and renewable project development, helping drive Germany’s energy transition.

There is more work to be done — and we are looking for a procurement leader who wants to make a real difference in Germany’s energy transition.

Job Description Purpose of the position

Germany is one of Europe’s most important renewable energy markets, with continued investment in the energy transition, grid infrastructure, digitalisation and supply chain resilience. Procurement plays a critical role in securing competitive value, managing supplier capacity, strengthening sustainability due diligence and balancing cost, quality, risk and speed of delivery.

As Head of Procurement Germany, you will lead both the procurement agenda and the people who make it happen. You will develop a capable team, build strong partnerships with the German business, and ensure procurement contributes clearly to value creation, risk management and sustainable delivery.

You will lead a team of 10 procurement professionals and be responsible for strengthening procurement performance across development, capital projects and operations. The role calls for a leader who can combine commercial judgement, sound procurement expertise and strong people leadership — setting direction, creating clarity, supporting development and enabling the team to deliver in a complex and fast-moving environment.

You will report to the VP Procurement Europe.

  • Lead and develop the team: Set direction for the German procurement function, develop people and capabilities, and create an inclusive, high-performing team culture built on safety, trust, accountability and continuous learning.
  • Partner with the business: Act as a trusted commercial partner to German stakeholders, Group Procurement and relevant business areas, translating business needs into clear procurement priorities and pragmatic solutions.
  • Drive procurement performance: Strengthen sourcing, category collaboration, supplier competitiveness and commercial decision-making across development, capital projects and operations.
  • Manage projects and contracts: Lead procurement and contract management activities for refurbishment, greenfield and operational projects across relevant renewable technologies, ensuring robust commercial and contractual outcomes.
  • Build supplier relationships: Develop productive relationships with local and international suppliers, in close cooperation with category managers and business stakeholders.
  • Deliver value responsibly: Identify savings opportunities, challenge demand where appropriate, improve supplier competitiveness and turn procurement initiatives into measurable business impact.
  • Manage risk and sustainability: Evaluate business challenges, mitigate procurement and supply chain risks, and support robust sustainability and human rights due diligence in line with relevant German requirements and Statkraft standards.
  • Improve ways of working: Strengthen procurement processes, collaboration, performance follow-up and the overall service offering of the German procurement function.

Qualifications

  • People and organisational leadership: You are an experienced leader who builds trust, sets direction and develops people. You create clarity, support professional growth and know how to lead a team through change in a complex matrix organisation.
  • Procurement expertise: You bring solid experience from procurement leadership, sourcing, contract management and/or project procurement, ideally in complex international environments.
  • Commercial judgement: You can balance cost, risk, quality, sustainability and delivery, and translate procurement initiatives into tangible savings and business impact.
  • Sector understanding: You understand the commercial, technical and delivery challenges of renewable energy. Experience from energy, infrastructure, construction, engineering, industrial operations or capital projects is also relevant.
  • Contract and supplier management: You understand commercial contracts and can apply that knowledge to sourcing strategies, negotiations, contract execution and supplier performance management.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: You build strong relationships across functions and cultures, create alignment around shared goals and enjoy working closely with both business stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Communication and negotiation: You communicate clearly in German and English, listen well, and bring confidence, structure and sound judgement to negotiations and decision-making.
  • Sustainability and HSE: You have a strong understanding of sustainability, HSE and responsible supply chain principles, and are motivated by making procurement a positive force in the energy transition.
  • Education: Higher relevant education within engineering, business, economics, supply chain, law or a related field is preferred.
