Senior Design Architect - Concept

The Senior Concept Design Architect will be responsible for leading the development of innovative architectural concepts from the initial design stage through design development. The role requires strong creative vision, technical understanding, and the ability to translate client requirements into high-quality, functional, and commercially viable design solutions.

The position will work closely with clients, consultants, project managers, and internal design teams to ensure that design concepts are aligned with project objectives, local regulations, brand standards, and overall project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of architectural concepts, master plans, and design strategies for various projects.
• Prepare and review concept designs, schematic layouts, massing studies, design presentations, mood boards, and architectural narratives.
• Translate client briefs and project requirements into creative and practical architectural solutions.
• Provide design leadership and direction to architects, designers, and visualization teams.
• Review drawings, 3D models, renderings, and presentation materials to ensure design quality and consistency.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, landscape, interior design, and other specialist consultants during the design process.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, authority requirements, planning regulations, and project standards.
• Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies to support concept development.
• Present design concepts and proposals to clients, senior management, and key stakeholders.
• Incorporate client and stakeholder feedback while maintaining the overall design intent.
• Support the preparation of design submissions, tender presentations, and competition proposals where required.
• Monitor project design progress and ensure deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
• Identify potential design, technical, or coordination issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior architects and design team members.
• Stay updated on architectural trends, materials, technologies, sustainability principles, and innovative design practices.
• Support business development activities through design proposals, presentations, and client meetings when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
• Professional architectural registration or relevant accreditation is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of architectural design principles, planning, building regulations, and construction methods.

Experience

• Minimum 10–12 years of architectural design experience, with significant experience in concept and schematic design.
• Proven experience in leading concept design for large-scale or complex architectural projects.
• Experience in sectors such as residential, hospitality, commercial, mixed-use, retail, or master planning is preferred.
• Middle East/GCC project experience is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Rhino, Grasshopper, 3ds Max, Lumion, Enscape, or similar visualization software is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Excellent freehand sketching, conceptualization, and presentation skills.
• Good knowledge of sustainable design principles and contemporary architectural materials.
