For our location in Kleve or Utrecht we are looking for a

System Engineer (m/f/d)

to join our team as soon as possible.

To strengthen our Infrastructure Operations team, we are looking for a Cloud Engineer who is passionate about operating, supporting, and continuously improving modern cloud platforms and services.

The opportunity

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Medline's cloud infrastructure and container platforms, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable services for business-critical applications across Europe.

You will work closely with infrastructure, application, security, and project teams to implement solutions, support operational excellence, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

How can you help us?

  • Continuously maintain and improve our EU Azure cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and high availability.
  • Participate in architecture and design sessions related to cloud, infrastructure, Kubernetes, and DevOps platforms.
  • Proactively resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis for critical issues related to Medline cloud infrastructure and the EU container platform.
  • Work closely with Medline infrastructure and application teams to implement and manage secure, scalable, repeatable, and reliable infrastructure environments.
  • Support and continuously improve Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), container platforms, ingress, networking, storage, and related platform services.
  • Maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and support infrastructure automation and standardization.
  • Support and optimize CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, Helm charts, and GitOps practices.
  • Support application teams with Kubernetes deployments, cloud infrastructure requirements, and platform-related troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with teams across the IS organization to implement cloud and hybrid solutions that support business objectives.
  • Support platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain technical standards, operational procedures, and platform documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • In-depth expertise of container-based infrastructure running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or on-premises Kubernetes platforms.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in system engineering, infrastructure administration, cloud engineering, DevOps, and/or support of business-critical systems.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Working knowledge of version management and source control tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • A solid background in Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of building and supporting mission-critical infrastructure for business-critical applications.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and drive issues to root cause.
  • Skilled in managing Windows and Linux Server environments.
  • Hands-on knowledge with Kubernetes, Helm, container registries, ingress controllers, networking, storage, and application deployment concepts.
  • Remarkable experience with monitoring, log collection, analysis, and infrastructure performance optimization tools and practices.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Solid experience with Rancher.
  • Knowledge of software development practices and methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, and GitOps.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and artifact management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, and Artifactory.
  • Extensive experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python is a plus.
  • Ability to see the “big picture” and align technical solutions with the organization’s direction and standards.
  • Strong service-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively with application, infrastructure, security, and project teams.
  • Motivated with a strong desire to deliver exceptional results in a fast-growing and international organization.
  • Professional proficiency in English, with German or additional language skills considered a plus
  • Strong security awareness and experience handling security vulnerabilities
