Job description

When enterprise hardware fails in a live production hall, someone has to diagnose it, fix it and prove it works before it goes back into service. That is this role - hands on the metal, working to SLA, across enterprise, hyperscale and AI environments.

About the opportunity

Join an operations team in Amsterdam supporting mission-critical data centre environments. You will diagnose, repair, replace and validate enterprise server, storage and networking hardware across customer estates. Installation and Smart Hands work is part of it, but the core of the job is restoring customer infrastructure quickly through expert hardware troubleshooting and repair.

For roughly the first two months you will travel extensively across Europe supporting customer deployments, taking technical training and learning operational procedures and customer environments. After that, the role is permanently based in Amsterdam.

Applications are welcome at all levels - the salary band reflects a genuine range of experience.

What you will be doing

• Diagnosing and resolving hardware faults on enterprise servers, storage platforms and network equipment

• Replacing FRUs including HDDs and SSDs, DIMMs, CPUs, power supplies, RAID controllers, motherboards, fans, NICs and Fibre Channel and Ethernet adapters

• Running hardware diagnostics, POST analysis, BIOS/UEFI configuration, firmware verification and fault isolation

• Validating repaired systems through functional testing before returning them to production

• Working to strict SLA targets for incident response and resolution

• Performing equipment installations, replacements, upgrades, relocations and decommissioning

• Supporting server refresh programmes and hardware lifecycle management

• Providing Smart Hands support for customers and internal engineering teams

• Rack and stack of enterprise servers, storage and networking equipment

• Installing, replacing and terminating structured copper and fibre cabling

• Installing, replacing and troubleshooting PDUs, and supporting switches and routers

• Managing onsite spare parts inventory, RMA processes and asset records

• Producing detailed service reports and maintaining accurate ticket updates

• Working safely around live production infrastructure and following change management procedures

What you will need

• Minimum 5 years supporting enterprise, hyperscale or colocation data centres

• Strong enterprise server hardware break/fix experience

• Proven experience diagnosing hardware failures in live production environments

• Excellent knowledge of Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, Supermicro or equivalent enterprise hardware

• Component-level replacement experience across motherboards, CPUs, memory, storage, PSUs, RAID controllers and NICs

• Strong understanding of RAID, BIOS/UEFI, firmware management and hardware diagnostics

• Hands-on rack and stack experience, structured copper and fibre cabling, and PDU installation

• Smart Hands experience within enterprise data centres and SLA-driven service environments

• Experience using ticketing and ITSM systems

• Fluent English and excellent customer communication

• Valid passport with unrestricted European travel, and willingness to travel across Europe for the first two months

• Flexibility for shift work, on-call support and occasional out-of-hours maintenance

• Right to work in the Netherlands without sponsorship

Nice to have

• NVIDIA GPU infrastructure or AI/HPC environment experience

• HP/HPE enterprise server hardware

• Vendor certifications (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, Supermicro, Juniper, Arista or similar)

• CompTIA Server+ or ITIL Foundation

• Enterprise server diagnostic tools

• Full driving licence

Working pattern

Full-time, site-based, day shifts in Amsterdam. Extensive European travel for approximately the first two months, then permanently Amsterdam based.

What is on offer

• €35,000 - €70,000 per annum depending on experience

• 33% shift allowance

• 16% employer pension contribution

• £1,500 annual training allowance and ongoing technical and vendor training

• 25 days annual leave

• €8 per day tax-free allowance and 25p per mile mileage

• 2.6% annual salary increase every July

• Flights, accommodation, travel expenses and daily subsistence fully covered for business travel

• Exposure to leading enterprise, hyperscale, AI and colocation data centres across Europe, with clear progression
