Joining our Amsterdam team, you will play an active role in shaping and delivering Aurora’s Power and Flexibility Market Forecasts for the Netherlands and Belgium, carrying out quantitative and policy analysis and contributing to strategic studies. In doing so, you will help providing a wide range of clients (utilities, developers, investors, and government) with the data, knowledge, and insights they need to accelerate the energy transition.
Our team is closely involved with key decision makers of the decarbonisation agenda in the Netherlands and Belgium, which means that you will have the chance to work on projects and topics of high relevance. Examples of recent projects we delivered include assessing the impact of grid development and grid congestion on the Dutch energy transition, evaluating business cases for batteries and renewable energy projects in the Dutch and Belgian electricity markets and analysing the investment opportunities in power infrastructure from data centre development in the Netherlands.
The successful applicant will combine a strong interest in energy markets and policy, proven analytical capabilities, and great performance in team-oriented environments. As an (Senior) Analyst, you will play an active role in client-facing activities including presenting in virtual and in-person client workshops.

- Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision making
- Develop long-term scenarios for the Dutch and Belgium power market with the help of Aurora’s in-house power market model
- Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from model results
- Monitor market activity, keeping abreast of the latest market and policy developments to eventually grow into a market expert
- Communicate findings to clients as well as to the wider public (media, webinars etc.)
- Deliver both online and in-person presentations and workshops to a broad range of clients
- Contribute to the expansion of Aurora’s research topics and analytical tools by identifying key trends and new opportunities to expand our capabilities
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required attributes:* A university degree in either: + a quantitative subject, coupled with a keen interest in policy developments + a social science, environmental studies, or a related field, coupled with an interest in quantitative analysis
- A proven ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information
- The capacity to communicate effectively with both technically and non-technically minded individuals, both in writing and orally
- A collaborative nature, evidence of performance in team-oriented environments is highly desired
- Proficiency (C1 Level) in Dutch and English; fluency in French is a plus
- Strong personal drive, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude.
- A strong interest in energy economics and a great motivation to work in the energy sector
Desirable attributes:* 1-3 years’ work experience at a leading consultancy, energy company, or other firm or institution (e.g. utility, developer, bank, government, university)
- Experience in working with energy system and/or optimisation models
- Demonstrated success in project and/or team management
