L3 SOC Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an L3 SOC Engineer to join on a 12-month contract based hybrid in Amstelveen or Odijk, the Netherlands, at €80 per hour. The role combines operational security with strategic depth - analysing vulnerabilities, developing security architectures, conducting penetration tests, and supporting annual ISO 27001 audits across a complex, regulated environment. Note: Dutch citizenship and Dutch language proficiency are required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively identify, analyse, and mitigate vulnerabilities across systems and infrastructure, investigating complex security issues and translating findings into effective, manageable solutions
• Design and develop security architecture aligned to current and future security requirements, assessing network and system configurations against security and architecture principles
• Conduct detailed security audits, supporting the preparation and evidencing of annual ISO 27001 audits and ensuring compliance with relevant standards
• Execute advanced penetration tests on the internal network to identify and remediate vulnerabilities, advising on structural improvements to strengthen defences against internal and external threats
• Automate and improve security and audit processes, producing clear documentation and tickets covering security risks, findings, and resolutions while sharing knowledge across teams

Top 5 Skills

• Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity experience, preferably within a Security Operations Centre (SOC), with a strong IT foundation across networks, operating systems, and Linux
• Hands-on experience with Windows, Active Directory, Linux, antivirus solutions, RBAC, virtualisation, Ansible, and GitLab, with scripting skills in Python or Bash
• Proven penetration testing experience with broad knowledge of pentesting tools and techniques, combined with experience designing complex security architectures and secure network configurations
• Deep knowledge of ISO 27001 controls, audit processes, and security standards, with strong analytical ability and risk awareness
• Dutch citizenship and fluent Dutch language skills are essential — desirable: CyberArk experience and certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CEH, or TOGAF. Candidates must be willing to undergo a BO+ screening
