The assignment will start during the pre-commissioning phase, with the reception and energization of the DCS followed by the first loop checks. The DCS Commissioning Specialist will take the lead on all DCS-related activities and work closely with the site commissioning, E&I and process teams.

The position is site-based in the Netherlands, with occasional business trips in Europe.

The main duties are the following:

  • Lead all DCS-related pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on site.
  • Perform the reception, energization and initial verification of the DCS.
  • Verify the DCS configuration against project specifications, functional requirements and approved engineering documentation.
  • Perform and coordinate logic checks, functional checks and associated commissioning tests.
  • Work closely with the loop-check team to support field testing and troubleshoot DCS-related issues.
  • Analyse discrepancies identified during testing and determine the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Modify DCS configuration when required in order to comply with project specifications, including parameters such as ranges, sensor types and functional logic.
  • Support the commissioning of E&I systems and their interfaces with the DCS.
  • Read and interpret E&I documentation, including logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
  • Read and interpret relevant process and piping documentation, including P&IDs, isometrics and associated technical documentation.
  • Support the commissioning of electrical equipment, electrical shelters and rotating equipment whenever required for DCS integration and functional testing.
  • Coordinate closely with the different commissioning disciplines to ensure proper sequencing and execution of activities.
  • Challenge existing technical solutions when necessary and propose practical solutions to resolve commissioning issues.
  • Ensure that all DCS checks and tests are performed in accordance with approved procedures, project requirements and applicable quality standards.
  • Complete and maintain all quality and commissioning documentation associated with on-site DCS checks and tests.
  • Monitor progress of DCS activities and provide clear reporting on completed works, outstanding issues and required actions.
  • Contribute to the overall commissioning planning and coordination of the project.
  • Work autonomously while maintaining effective cooperation with the wider site and commissioning teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with DCS systems, preferably within industrial process, energy, hydrogen, Oil & Gas, petrochemical or similar projects.
  • Proven experience in DCS pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  • Strong experience in logic checks, functional testing, loop checks and troubleshooting.
  • Good experience with Yokogawa DCS systems is required.
  • Good knowledge of commissioning management and coordination.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret E&I documentation, including logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
  • Good ability to read and interpret process and piping documentation, including P&IDs and isometrics.
  • Experience in the commissioning of E&I systems and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with rotating equipment commissioning would be an advantage.
  • Strong autonomy, leadership, teamwork and reporting skills.
  • Good command of standard digital and office tools.
  • Fluent English is mandatory.
  • Availability for a full-time, site-based assignment in the Netherlands.
  • The candidate must hold or be able to obtain the required site safety and electrical certifications applicable to the assignment.
