Job description

Short version

We're not looking for someone to manage a content calendar. We're looking for someone who makes the content, in front of the camera and in the edit, at a volume and speed that only comes from genuinely living on TikTok and Reels.

If you already film yourself without thinking twice, cut in CapCut faster than most people write an email, and have opinions about why a hook works, keep reading.

About Amara

Amara is a voice-first app for older adults, built in Berlin. People talk to it the way they'd talk to anyone, no menus, no buttons. It remembers the granddaughter's degree subject, reads the morning briefing, plays the radio, and runs a quiz.

We sell to two people at once: the older adult using it, and the adult child buying it because they can't be there every day. That tension is the most interesting creative brief in our category: love, distance, the moments between visits. Almost nobody is doing it well on social.

We're a small team. You'd own social content end to end and report to GTM.

What you'd actually do

- Be on camera. A meaningful share of our output is you (or people you cast and direct) talking to the lens. Talking heads, POVs, street interviews, reactions, unboxings, day-in-the-life.

- Ship volume. Think 12–18 pieces a week across Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook, not 3 polished films a month.

- Run the experiment loop . Try formats, read the retention graph, kill what dies, rebuild what works into a repeatable series. You should be comfortable with most of what you post underperforming.

- Edit it yourself. Shoot on a phone, cut in CapCut, subtitle, sound-design, caption, publish. Canva for static, carousels and thumbnails.

- Cast and direct real people: our users, actors, our team, our founders.

- Write the words. Hooks, captions, on-screen text, comment replies. In German and English.

- Work in trends without being cringe. You'll know which sounds and formats we should hop on and more importantly shouldn't hop on.

- Own the numbers for reach, watch time, saves, follower growth and content-driven signups.

What we need you to already have

Non-negotiable:

- You are comfortable and good on camera, with a body of work that proves it, not an intention to try.

- Deep, native fluency with the TikTok and Instagram Reels creation interfaces, not just the posting side. You know what the in-app editor does better than a desktop tool and when to use which.

- CapCut at speed: cuts, captions, keyframes, speed ramps, sound sync, templates.

- Canva for static and design-adjacent output.

- German at C1/native level and confident English. Our home market is DACH; but we are expanding into English speaking countries.

- Based in Berlin or willing to be, with the right to work in Germany.

Strongly wanted:

- A personal account, brand account or client account you grew yourself, with the numbers to show.

- A point of view on why one video hit 400k and the next one didn't.

- Experience shooting with non-professional talent.

This is probably not for you if

- Your portfolio is mostly strategy decks, content calendars and community management.

- You'd need a videographer, an editor or an agency to produce a Reel.

- You've never posted a video of yourself.

- You need three rounds of feedback before anything goes live. Here it's one quick look, then it ships.

What we offer

- Full creative ownership of a channel presence that's still early. You'd be defining it, not inheriting it.

- Budget for gear, tools and paid amplification behind what works.

- A product that people write us thank-you emails about.

- Founders & team who go on camera when you ask them to.

How to apply

Applications without the video won't be reviewed. This is the whole screen.

Send us:

- A 45–60 second vertical video, shot and edited by you, with you on camera, answering: "Why does nobody over 70 go viral, and should they?" or "You have 3 seconds before I swipe. Teach me something about hooks using this video as the example." Phone footage is fine. Rough is fine. We're looking at hook, pacing, subtitles, edit rhythm and whether you're watchable, not production value.

- Links to one account you personally created content for, and one account you admire their strategy or the creator strategy.

No cover letter needed. CV optional.
