Platform Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

A fast-growing, Berlin-based enterprise AI platform startup is looking for a Platform Engineer to help build and maintain the backbone of their multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure. Founded in 2023 and backed by notable investors, the company serves thousands of enterprise customers and is scaling rapidly. You'll be a critical hire on a small, high-calibre team, working on-site in Berlin.

This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and security — partnering closely with both internal Product Engineers and external customer IT teams to enable reliable, compliant, and scalable AI deployments across diverse cloud environments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Manage and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment

• Deploy and maintain the platform across multiple customer cloud environments, including GCP, AWS, Azure, and OpenShift

• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep)

• Monitor and optimize application performance and infrastructure costs

• Ensure security and compliance standards are upheld across all cloud environments

• Collaborate with Product Engineers to support the rollout of new features

• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues promptly

• Document deployment processes and maintain runbooks for different customer environments

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-haves:

• 3+ years of software or platform engineering experience

• Native-level German or minimum B2 German proficiency — required for direct customer communications with enterprise IT teams

• Proven hands-on experience with platform-level engineering responsibilities (deployment, infrastructure ops, reliability)

• Experience deploying and operating enterprise platforms across Azure, AWS, GCP, and/or OpenShift

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Azure Container Apps, and GitHub Actions

• Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis in production environments

• Solid understanding of security best practices in cloud deployments

• Strong CS fundamentals and ability to implement and uphold platform reliability standards

Nice to have:

• Experience with infrastructure cost optimisation and observability tooling

• Familiarity with Bicep for Azure infrastructure automation

• Background working with enterprise customers or in a customer-facing infrastructure capacity

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary: €75,000 – €120,000 per year, depending on experience

LOCATION

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be able to work from the Berlin office.
