What are you going to do?
Shape support that scales across borders At Nedap, we continuously explore how technology can help retailers and their teams respond to changing needs. For a new innovation initiative, we are looking for an Interim UI/UX Designer who can uncover what matters to users and turn those insights into clear concepts and experiences.
This is not a delivery role within an established product with a fixed roadmap. You work in an early phase, where the problem space and potential solutions are still being explored. You lead discovery, make ideas tangible, and help the team determine which opportunities are relevant, understandable, and worth developing further.
You make sure product decisions are grounded in customer and user insight rather than internal assumptions. By combining research, design, and validation, you help the team find a direction that solves a recognizable problem.

Your responsibilities

Translate needs, workflows, challenges, and business considerations into clear opportunity areas and design questions.
Create user flows, concepts, and interactive prototypes that allow the team and customers to respond to concrete possibilities.
Design and run experiments, synthesize feedback, and sharpen, redirect, or stop ideas when the evidence calls for it.
Work with data, software development, and product management to connect user value, feasibility, and product direction.

Your team
You join a small, hands-on innovation team that combines product management, data, software development, and UX expertise. The team works with a high level of autonomy, shares unfinished work early, and uses feedback to improve the direction together.
You collaborate with customer-facing colleagues to reach relevant users and stakeholders. You also remain connected to Nedap's UX community for coaching, professional feedback, and knowledge sharing, while retaining the freedom to shape your own approach within the assignment.

Our offer
What's in it for you?
We have the ambition, and the opportunity to shape the future. And we need people with the drive to turn that into meaningful impact. You get the chance to contribute to something truly unique, alongside more than 1,000 driven and like-minded colleagues.
From day one, you help us fulfill our purpose: Technology for Life. The way you grow, take initiative, and deliver impact helps bring that purpose to life. We shape what's next. Together.
What you can count on in the role of UI/UX Designer :
- A monthly salary of between € 4.100 and € 5.300 (Scale VIII) based on a 38-hour working week;
- You will receive a 13th month salary and share in the company’s profits – which you can use to acquire depositary receipts for Nedap shares – and we offer an attractive pension plan.
- This position starts as a fixed-term, project based assignment. After positive evaluation there is a chance to extend into a permanent role.
- You design the work-life balance that is right for you. We do not log working hours, days off, and holiday leave. We trust you to take your responsibility when it comes to organising your work and taking time off.
- You do more than design screens: you help determine whether a new product area should exist and which problems it should solve.
- You learn from international retail teams through interviews, workshops, validation sessions, and store visits.

Required Skills You get energy from a domain where the product definition is still open. You are curious about how people actually work, comfortable putting unfinished ideas in front of users, and able to combine speed with careful research. You take ownership and challenge assumptions constructively without losing connection with the team or customer.
- You have several years of hands-on experience in UX Design, Product Design, or a similar role, with a strong focus on discovery and prototyping.
- You are confident leading interviews, workshops, usability research, and contextual research with professional users.
- You can turn customer problems and business needs into clear hypotheses, user flows, journeys, and testable concepts.
- You can move work forward in a small team with broad responsibilities and an evolving direction.
- You communicate clearly, challenge assumptions with respect, and work effectively with product, data, and software colleagues.
Good to know: Hybrid (remote) working is common at Nedap, and you and your team can coordinate your working hours to achieve a good work-life balance. You will be present at our Campus in Groenlo at least 3 times a week.
And beyond your experience, it is important to us that you identify with our culture and values and are eager to contribute to our purpose of creating Technology for Life
