BBIS has an opening for an IB MYP/DP Arts Teacher in combination with an Permanent Substitute Teacher which is suitable for those just starting their careers.

Location: Kleinmachnow (Berlin region)

Start date: August 2026

Limited initially until 31st July 2028

Full time: 30 teaching hours / 40 weekly hours

Vacation: The school year includes up to 180 teaching days and a total of 187 work days (see our school holiday calendar for the exact schedule).

Classification according to BBIS Salary Scales for each role based on 50 %

  • Salary range for IB MYP/DP Arts Teacher according to experience and qualifications

€27.529,51 - €30.942,45 (gross/year/) according to BBIS Teacher Scale

  • Salary range for Permanent Substitute Teacher according to experience and qualifications

€19.438,51 - €22.309,67 gross/year according to BBIS works agreement for

Role Summary: This full-time position splits your time equally between two key responsibilities:

  • IB MYP/DP Arts Teacher (Drama & Media): Inspire students across multiple artistic disciplines. Deliver inquiry-based instruction in theatre, visual arts, and digital media while fostering creative thinking, technical mastery, and cultural analysis.
  • Permanent Substitute Teacher: Ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience across various subjects and grade levels, helping us refine this vital role for our school community.

Your Responsibilities Include The Following Activities IB MYP/DP Arts Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver inquiry-based instruction in Drama and Media Arts in accordance with IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) and/or IB DP (Diploma Programme) frameworks.
  • Promote synergies across disciplines—such as digital projections for theatre sets, multimedia performance pieces, or digital documentation of dramatic works.
  • Conduct internal and external IB assessments (eg. DP Theatre Collaborative Project, MYP Arts eAssessment).
  • Embed Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, the IB Learner Profile, and connections to Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) into everyday teaching.
  • Experience with other areas in the arts (Music, Visual Arts) is of benefit and valued.
  • Support musical and play performances through staging, directing, organizing timelines and scripts, to work collaboratively with other members of the Arts team.
  • Oversee, organize and maintain specialized arts facilities and equipment/props.

Permanent Substitute Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction across different subjects and grade levels, maintaining a seamless learning journey for our students.
  • Uphold the consistency of pedagogical practice when substituting for absent colleagues.
  • As this is a trial position, your experience and adaptability will directly contribute to how we support our teaching staff and students.
  • Demonstrate active care and management of individual and groups of students

YOUR QUALIFICATION

  • University degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s or equivalent teaching qualification) in Fine Arts, Theatre/Drama, Media Arts, Art Education, or a closely related field.
  • Strong proficiency in performing arts combined with digital media skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, video editing) and visual art techniques.
  • Full professional fluency in English (language of instruction).
  • A passion for teaching across various age groups and subjects.
