In order to provide high-fidelity training simulation, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Defensive Aids Simulation SW Engineer (d/f/m)

You will join a team of experienced engineers and subject matter experts to jointly define, implement and integrate complex simulation subsystems in the domain of sensors and weapons. Our engineers are closely collaborating with other departments and external suppliers in order to provide solutions for high-fidelity trainings systems, with current focus on the Eurofighter pilot training simulation system (PSTS).

Your responsibility will focus on software development as well as related testing and integration activities within the domain of Defensive Aids Subsystems. You will contribute to high-fidelity simulation solutions for the existing Praetorian DASS and the future Eurofighter Electronic Warfare capabilities. The development work will include retargeting of aircraft software, the simulation of defensive aids models and the integration of 3rd party components.

Major Role & Responsibilities

Software design and development including optimization and further development of existing subsystems

Retargeting of embedded aircraft software based on M68k or PPC CPU

Interface harmonization and implementation with internal partners and external suppliers

Support of the integration and testing activities at the simulation devices in close collaboration of other subject matter experts

Contribution to all phases of the software development process from requirements engineering to subsystem qualification

Specific & Technical Skills / Experience Required

Sound knowledge of

SW development and interface definitions (C, C++, ADA 95, Python, GDB)

SW design and SW architecture for embedded software and distributed systems

Solid foundation and hands on skills in Linux environment and development toolchain

V-model based SW development process

 

Experience regarding

Eurofighter avionics and MaTE Bus simulator

Defensive Aids Subsystems and electronic warfare funamentals

Linux development environment and related development toolchains

Tools such as git, confluence, jira, bitbucket, DOORS)

 

IT literate (MS Office applications)

General Skills / Experience Required

Educated to degree level in computer science or engineering

Experience across entire software engineering lifecycle for complex systems

Good language skills in English, both written and spoken

Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining close, effective collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team

Capability to respond to changes in activities and priorities

Strong communication skills with an ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment
