Job description

Property Finder is the leading property portal in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, dedicated to shaping an inclusive future for real estate while spearheading the region’s growing tech ecosystem. At its core is a clear and powerful purpose: To change living for good in the region.

Founded on the value of great ambitions, Property Finder connects millions of property seekers with thousands of real estate professionals every day. The platform offers a seamless and enriching experience, empowering both buyers and renters to make informed decisions. Since its inception in 2007, Property Finder has evolved into a trusted partner for developers, brokers, and home seekers. As a lighthouse tech company, it continues to create an environment where people can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of real estate in MENA.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team building the services behind the region's leading property marketplace. You'll work on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems where latency, reliability, and cost efficiency directly shape the experience of millions of buyers, renters, and agents.

This is a hands-on senior role: you'll design and own services end to end, influence architecture beyond your immediate squad, and raise the engineering bar for the people around you.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and operate backend services powering core marketplace experiences.
  • Own your work end to end: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and iteration based on production data.
  • Build new services and features primarily in TypeScript, while supporting and evolving our existing Go services.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and mobile/web engineers to translate requirements into well-architected, maintainable systems.
  • Drive operational excellence: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and continuous improvement of reliability and performance.
  • Mentor other engineers, review designs and pull requests thoroughly, and contribute to backend standards and best practices.

What We're Looking For

Required technical skills:

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with significant time on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Node.js) for backend development — this is the primary language for all new services and features.
  • Working proficiency in Go, or the ability to ramp up quickly — our existing production services are written in Go, and you'll maintain and evolve them alongside new development.
  • Solid experience designing and operating microservices: API design (REST/gRPC), service boundaries, versioning, and inter-service communication patterns.
  • Production experience with AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, CloudFront, RDS, ElastiCache or equivalents) and containerized deployments on Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with data stores and search: relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis — including schema design, indexing strategy, and query performance tuning.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing (Kafka, SQS, or similar).
  • Strong grounding in observability and reliability: metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, SLOs, and incident management.

Nice to have:

  • Experience integrating AI/LLM-backed features into production services (e.g., AWS Bedrock, prompt-serving infrastructure, latency and cost optimization for model calls).
  • Experience with edge computing (Lambda@Edge, CDN-level logic) and multi-region considerations.
  • Exposure to billing/subscription systems, identity platforms, or geospatial/location data.
  • Experience in marketplace, classifieds, or other two-sided platform products.

How you work:

  • You take ownership beyond your ticket — you notice problems, propose solutions, and follow through.
  • You communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and back your arguments with data.
  • You hold a high bar in code review and design review, and you make the engineers around you better.
  • You're pragmatic: you know when to build for scale and when to ship the simple thing, and you can quantify the cost of both.

Our promise to talent

At Property Finder, we believe talent thrives in an environment where you can be your best self. Where you are empowered to create, elevate, grow, and care. Our team is made up of the best and brightest, united by a shared ambition to change living for good in the region. We attract top talent who want to make an impact. We firmly believe that when our people grow, we all succeed.
