Research Development Design Engineer

We are looking for a hands‑on R&D Engineer to develop and industrialize connectivity solutions such as connectors, cable assemblies, and customer‑specific interconnect components . You will work across the full development cycle from material selection and prototyping to process development, testing programs, and production validation, ensuring every design can be reliably manufactured and used in real applications.

In this role, you collaborate closely with R&D, production engineering, suppliers, and external institutes . You coordinate technical activities, align stakeholders, and maintain oversight of the complete trajectory: trial runs, heat‑treatment steps, mechanical and environmental testing, quality verification, and final production readiness . Your goal is to deliver usable, robust products that meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.

What you will focus on

• Developing connectors, cables, and custom connectivity solutions
• Selecting and validating metals and plastics (plastics are a plus)
• Setting up and executing test programs (mechanical, thermal, environmental)
• Verifying manufacturability: heat treatment, forming, crimping, molding, plating, assembly
• Translating prototypes into stable production processes
• Coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and external testing institutes
• Ensuring quality compliance and supporting troubleshooting during industrialization

What you bring

• Background in mechanical engineering or materials science
• Experience with CAD systems
• Knowledge of production processes , especially for metal components and plastic parts
• Strong communication skills in English (Dutch/German are a plus)
• Experience in project‑based work and cross‑functional coordination
• Willingness to travel to the production site in Germany (Stuttgart area) once a month
