Job description

Within your #oneteam

A brand-new datacenter, a blank page, and one mission: make it run.

As OVHcloud expands its footprint in Germany with a new colocation site in Berlin, we're looking for a Datacenter Manager to lead the site's operational launch and take full ownership of its day-to-day IT performance. You'll be joining the DC Operations team, a cross-European group responsible for keeping OVHcloud's datacenters running at peak performance. This is a newly created role, opened to manage the Berlin 3AZ from the ground up.

If the prospect of building a team from scratch, bringing structure to a fast-moving environment, and being the visible leader of a new site appeals to you, we'd like to hear from you.

Your Mission

  • Own every operation on the floor - plan, schedule, and track all connections, upgrades, customizations, and rack-related activities in line with OVHcloud's strategic objectives
  • Build and lead your IT team - recruit, onboard, integrate, and develop technicians whose skills match operational needs and performance expectations
  • Be a present and approachable leader - foster a strong social bond across all teams and staff, and serve as a reliable point of contact and support for your people
  • Foster a growth oriented site - both for the IT landscape and Infrastructure as well as the people onsite. Track individual and team performance, conduct annual and salary reviews, manage skills development, and build clear progression paths (tech, lead tech)
  • Champion a safety-first culture - train, monitor, and support your team in security and safety awareness, and ensure compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements
  • Run a lean, data-driven operation - leverage lean management, OKR/KPI dashboards, and structured reporting to drive continuous improvement, productivity, and SLA adherence as well as manage day to day finances (opex/capex) for the data centre
  • Align and communicate - deliver internal and site communication in close collaboration with the Delivery Unit steerco, deploy policy decisions, and turn action plans into results
  • Manage external relationships - coordinate with our colocation provider, vendors, local authorities, and customers to keep the site running smoothly and relationships strong
  • Assure site safety, compliance, and security - uphold adherence to relevant security and regulatory standards across all site operations and maintain a safe working environment for all teams

Your Skills

  • Deep IT hardware and software expertise - strong working knowledge as well as several years of experience with servers, networking, storage, and the tools that keep them running, with a genuine interest in the technical side of the role
  • Planning and scheduling proficiency - capable of managing multiple priorities, structuring workloads, and using a wide range of IT tools to keep operations on track
  • Proven leadership with strong interpersonal skills - experienced in leading and bringing teams together, with an understanding that trust and presence are as important as technical know-how
  • Data-savvy approach - comfortable generating reports, working with OKR/KPI dashboards, and turning data into clear decisions
  • Compliance and safety awareness - familiar with international standards, regulatory frameworks, and safety protocols relevant to datacenter environments
  • Continuous improvement mindset - proactive in identifying ways to enhance organization, processes, and team capabilities
  • Fluency in English to collaborate effectively across our European sites (France, Limburg) on a daily basis
  • at least 2 years of management experience in an industrial or IT operations environment, with a solid educational background (5+ years of higher education), combined with strong conflict management and performance management skills
  • Datacenter infrastructure knowledge - familiarity with power distribution and delivery architecture (MV transformers, generators, UPS, batteries) and IT cooling systems supporting live IT loads, as well as knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 90001, ISO 50001, and PCI-DSS standards
  • Financial and people management experience - ideally proficiency in opex/capex, P&L reporting, CAPEX project justification and business cases
  • Experience working in a colocation or datacenter environment is a plus

Your future impact

In 6 months

  • Master the internal organization of the DC IT Run and upgrade team, and establish effective working relationships across the wider European DC Operations network.
  • Demonstrate sufficient autonomy to take charge of priority growth and IT issues for existing equipment.

In 1 year

  • Develop a strong understanding of our DC IT systems and architecture within the colocation environment.
  • Ensure a high quality of service (SLA, MTTR, etc.) that meets customer expectations and operational standards.

What We Offer

  • A key role in launching OVHcloud's newest German datacenter - with the autonomy to shape site operations from day one
  • A competetive salary package with annual bonus scheme as well as company pension scheme & insurance packages
  • 32 vacation days per year in the beginning, up to 34 days with growing seniority
  • “Mahlzeit!” – we cover 15 of your lunchbreaks per month with our PLUXEE lunch vouchers worth 7,23€ each
  • Stay Active – with our Sports Allowance of up to 400€ per year, we financially support your sports activities

  • Career development within one of Europe's leading cloud providers , with opportunities to expand your scope as the site matures
