Job Title: EPMS Engineer

Job Purpose

The EPMS Engineer is responsible for driving the resolution and closeout of all outstanding EPMS-related technical, functional, integration, testing, and commissioning issues. The role involves coordinating with engineering contractors, vendors, commissioning teams, operations personnel, and project stakeholders to ensure the EPMS is fully functional, compliant with project requirements, and ready for final handover.

Key Responsibilities

Issue Management and Closeout

Review, prioritize, and manage all EPMS punch list items and outstanding actions.

Maintain a comprehensive EPMS issue tracker with owners, target dates, and status updates.

Investigate technical issues, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.

Verify that all identified issues are resolved and formally closed.

Technical Support

Provide technical expertise on EPMS architecture, hardware, software, networking, and system integration.

Review configuration settings, alarms, events, reports, dashboards, and monitoring functions.

Support troubleshooting of communication issues between EPMS, SCADA, DCS, PLCs, protection relays, meters, and other integrated systems.

Validate system performance against project specifications and operational requirements.

Testing and Verification

Develop and execute test procedures for issue verification and closeout.

Witness and document retesting activities following corrective actions.

Ensure all functional, integration, and reliability tests are successfully completed.

Support SAT, commissioning, and performance testing activities.

Vendor and Contractor Coordination

Interface with EPMS suppliers, system integrators, OEMs, and EPC contractors.

Monitor vendor action items and ensure timely resolution of defects.

Review and approve technical submissions, software revisions, and configuration changes.

Facilitate technical meetings to drive issue resolution.

Documentation and Handover

Ensure all as-built documentation is complete and accurate.

Review operating procedures, maintenance manuals, and user guides.

Verify closure of all comments from FAT, SAT, commissioning, and operational readiness reviews.

Support final handover to operations and maintenance teams.

Reporting

Provide regular status reports on outstanding issues, risks, and mitigation plans.

Highlight critical path items affecting project completion.

Escalate unresolved technical issues to project management when required.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

5–10+ years of experience in electrical power systems, SCADA, EMS, or EPMS projects.

Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting electrical monitoring and control systems.

Proven track record in managing punch lists and closeout activities during project execution.

Technical Skills

Knowledge of power system monitoring, protection, and control systems.

Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3, OPC, and Ethernet networks.

Experience with electrical substations, switchgear, protection relays, energy meters, and power management systems.

Understanding of FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover processes.

Ability to analyze system logs, alarms, events, and performance data.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication.

Ability to manage multiple issues and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
