Electrical & Drive Engineer
Ropa Fiesta Electrical and Mechanical Equipment Installation L.L.C. O.P.C.
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Electrical & Drive Engineer to oversee the erection, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) systems, servo drives, and industrial electrical distribution systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong electrical engineering fundamentals with deep technical expertise in Siemens drive families (SINAMICS S/G series) and servo control systems.
Industry Specialization: Direct engineering experience within Steel Plants (rolling mills, melt shops, overhead cranes) or Ports/Maritime environments (container cranes, bulk material handling, loaders/unloaders) will be considered a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. VFD & Servo Drive Erection & Commissioning
Lead the physical installation, panel integration, and commissioning of heavy-duty drive systems, including parameterization and tuning of Siemens SINAMICS S120, S130, G120, and G130 drives.
Configure and optimize high-performance Servo Drives and Servo Motors for precise motion control, position control, and synchronized multi-axis applications.
Implement application-specific control schemes such as closed-loop vector control, master-slave load sharing, and Safety Integrated functions.
2. Heavy Industry Field Service & Fault Diagnosis
Attend critical breakdown and service calls in demanding environments like Steel Mills or Port Terminals to minimize costly operational downtime.
Utilize diagnostic software tools (Siemens STARTER, Startdrive, Scout) to trace faults, analyze trip logs, and restore operations promptly.
Troubleshoot complex automated machinery common to these sectors (e.g., crane hoist/trolley/long-travel drives, continuous casters, mill stands, or material handling loaders).
3. Drive Repair & Component-Level Maintenance
Troubleshoot and repair VFD and servo hardware components, including power modules, control units, IGBTs, rectifiers, capacitors, and feedback boards.
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on drive panels to ensure long-term reliability against harsh environmental factors (dust, heat, vibration, or marine salinity).
4. Motor & Drive Integration (AC, DC, and Servo)
Demonstrate deep working knowledge of AC induction, DC, and Permanent Magnet Servo motors, including their specific feedback devices (incremental/absolute encoders, resolvers).
Perform motor ID runs, encoder alignment, and match drive parameters to motor thermal and dynamics characteristics.
5. Industrial Networking & Protocols
Establish and optimize robust communication links between PLCs and drives using Profibus, Profinet, and CANBUS.
Troubleshoot network-related issues such as bus faults, node drops, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) in high-power industrial environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
Experience: 3 to 7 years of core hands-on experience in industrial electrical engineering, specifically focusing on VFD/Servo commissioning and field service.
Preferred Industry Experience (Highly Valued):
Steel Plants: Familiarity with high-power rolling mills, furnace power distribution, or heavy-duty process lines.
Ports & Maritime: Hands-on experience with automated port cranes (STS, RTG, RMG), bulk ship loaders, or rotating machinery.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience with Siemens SINAMICS S120 / S130 (multi-axis/servo) and G120 / G130 systems.
Proficiency with software engineering tools like Siemens STARTER, TIA Portal (Startdrive).
Strong command of motion control concepts (homing, electronic gearing, positioning).
Hands-on experience in network topologies, addressing, and troubleshooting for Profibus, Profinet, and CANBUS.
