HVAC Design Engineer

Job Summary

The HVAC Design Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, calculation, and coordination of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing HVAC designs in compliance with project specifications, local regulations, international standards, and company requirements while ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Prepare HVAC system designs, calculations, and layouts for various projects.
• Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry-standard software.
• Design air distribution systems, chilled water systems, VRF/VRV systems, ventilation systems, and smoke management systems.
• Prepare equipment schedules and select appropriate HVAC equipment.
• Develop ductwork and piping layouts and sizing calculations.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority requirements, building codes, and international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, etc.).

Project Coordination

• Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines.
• Attend design review meetings and technical coordination meetings.
• Resolve design conflicts and provide technical solutions.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical proposals from contractors and suppliers.

Technical Support

• Provide engineering support during project execution and construction phases.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation compliance with approved designs.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and technical queries.
• Assist in testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all designs meet project quality standards and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records.
• Review and update designs based on project changes and authority comments.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering .

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of HVAC design experience.
• GCC/UAE experience is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination.
• Knowledge of HVAC design software such as HAP, Elite Software, Carrier E20, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and local building codes.
• Understanding of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC design principles.
