Wet Utilities and Mechanical Practice Lead
Abu Dhabi
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Wet Utilities and Mechanical Practice Lead to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The Wet Utilities and Mechanical Practice Lead is responsible for leading the technical, commercial, and operational performance of the wet utilities and mechanical engineering disciplines across planning, design, coordination, and delivery. The role provides strategic direction for utility and mechanical systems, ensures technical excellence, regulatory compliance, effective multidisciplinary integration, efficient project delivery, and sustainable business growth, while strengthening team capability and supporting client and authority engagement.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide strategic leadership for the wet utilities and mechanical practices, including capability development, resource planning, workload balancing, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and oversee the planning, design, review, and delivery of wet utilities and mechanical systems, including potable water, wastewater, stormwater, irrigation, TSE, pumping and storage facilities, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, water transfer, and other infrastructure-related mechanical systems as applicable.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, design procedures, checking protocols, quality controls, and review processes to ensure consistent, high-quality outputs across projects.
- Provide senior technical authority for design calculations, system modelling, equipment selection, specifications, design criteria, constructability, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
- Direct multidisciplinary coordination with civil, structural, electrical, roads, dry utilities, landscape, BIM, GIS, digital drafting, and project management teams to achieve integrated design solutions.
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and other stakeholders, including support for submissions, approvals, design reviews, and resolution of technical comments.
- Support business development activities, including client engagement, proposals, technical methodologies, fee estimation, presentations, and pursuit planning for new opportunities.
- Monitor project performance, utilization, technical risk, and delivery quality, and implement corrective actions where needed to support efficient and profitable delivery.
- Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff through coaching, knowledge sharing, recruitment support, succession planning, and performance development.
- Champion innovation, sustainability, digital delivery, and lessons learned to strengthen technical quality, operational effectiveness, and commercial value.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- Typically 20+ years of relevant experience in utility and/or mechanical engineering design and project delivery, including significant leadership or discipline management experience.
- Strong experience in technical design management, multidisciplinary coordination, authority submissions, quality assurance, and infrastructure project delivery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes, standards, local authority requirements, and infrastructure design guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage technical quality, mitigate delivery risk, and support profitable project execution.
