Description
Job Title: Master Diagnostic Technician (Automotive)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Availability: Immediate Joiners Only (Candidates currently residing in Abu Dhabi/UAE with transferable visa preferred)
Position Type: Full-Time
Job Purpose
The Master Diagnostic Technician serves as the ultimate technical authority and troubleshooting mastermind within the workshop. This position is responsible for isolating, analyzing, and diagnosing the most complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults on modern and high-end luxury vehicles. Rather than focusing solely on basic manual labor, this role serves as the diagnostic "doctor" of the facility—interpreting data, mapping out precise repair strategies, performing advanced calibrations/programming, and mentoring junior technicians to ensure a flawless first-time fix rate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced Diagnostics & Fault-Finding
Perform master-level diagnostics on vehicle mechanical, electrical, powertrain, and advanced electronic systems.
Utilize OEM and specialized diagnostic scanners, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and brand-specific software to extract and interpret Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Analyze complex multiplex communication networks, including CAN Bus, LIN Bus, and MOST (fiber optic) systems, to isolate communication drops or wiring faults.
Conduct systematic root-cause analysis on sophisticated vehicle systems: engine management, advanced transmissions, ABS/traction control, SRS (airbags), climate control, suspension networks, and body control modules.
2. Programming, Coding & Calibration
Execute electronic control unit (ECU) flashing, software updates, programming, and variant coding when replacing control modules.
Perform intricate component adaptations, immobilizer synchronization, and initializations.
Calibrate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), steering angle sensors, and air suspension setups following structural or electronic repairs.
3. Strategy, Inspection & Quality Assurance
Translate complex diagnostic data and wiring diagrams into clear, executable repair instructions for the workshop technician team.
Perform targeted visual inspections and specialized road tests to replicate elusive customer complaints, verify vehicle symptoms, and sign off on completed high-level repairs.
Keep highly accurate, detailed technical logs on job cards, documenting the diagnostic path, root causes, and recommended part replacements (with exact part numbers/requirements).
4. Team Mentorship & Workshop Control
Act as the primary technical consultant and advisor to the Workshop Controller, Service Advisors, and Workshop Manager.
Supervise, instruct, and provide hands-on technical guidance to general technicians on complex mechanical and electrical assemblies, elevating the overall technical skill level of the floor.
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of dedicated experience in automotive diagnostics and complex troubleshooting. High-end European, luxury, or advanced multi-brand workshop experience is highly preferred.
Education: Diploma/Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a highly relevant Technical Certification (e.g., ASE Master Certified, OEM Master Technician status, or NVQ Level 3/4 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair).
Systems Expertise: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and reverse-engineer complex automotive electrical wiring schematics and technical service bulletins (TSBs).
Network Knowledge: Deep structural understanding of vehicle computer networks, sensor networks, and data transmission lines.
Languages: Strong professional communication skills in English (both verbal and written) for compiling diagnostic reports and explaining technical issues; Arabic is a distinct advantage.
Preferred Specializations (Plus Factors)
Direct experience with specialized diagnostic protocols, VIN history management, and modul
