Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Summary:

Responsible for managing and supervising the full scope of mechanical works within the assigned project, from design coordination to installation, testing, commissioning, and handover. This includes HVAC, chilled water systems, plumbing, drainage, and fire fighting systems, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications, authority regulations, and project schedules. The role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership in managing site teams and subcontractors, and effective coordination with other MEP and civil disciplines to achieve seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and BIM models to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with specifications and regulations.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise the execution of all mechanical works, ensuring adherence to approved method statements, quality standards, and project milestones.
• Coordinate mechanical installations with electrical, civil, and architectural works to prevent clashes and rework.
• Lead technical meetings with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and in-house MEP teams to resolve design conflicts, material issues, and execution challenges.
• Prepare and review material submittals, technical documentation, and method statements for consultant approval.
• Oversee procurement tracking for mechanical materials, equipment, and long-lead items, ensuring timely availability for site execution.
• Supervise subcontractors’ mechanical works, ensuring compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
• Conduct site inspections to verify the quality and correctness of installations prior to testing and commissioning.
• Lead testing, commissioning, and performance verification of mechanical systems, ensuring proper operation in line with project requirements.
• Liaise with UAE authorities such as DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and Dubai Civil Defense to secure necessary inspections and approvals.
• Implement value engineering solutions to improve system efficiency and reduce costs without compromising performance.
• Monitor material consumption, manpower productivity, and work progress against planned targets; recommend corrective actions where needed.
• Maintain updated as-built records, ensuring accuracy for project close-out documentation.
• Prepare and compile operation & maintenance manuals for mechanical systems in coordination with the MEP team.
• Ensure all mechanical works are carried out in strict compliance with HSE requirements and company safety policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10 or more years of experience in mechanical execution including 8 years in UAE.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC system design and installation, chilled water pipe networks, ducting works, plumbing and drainage systems, water supply systems, and fire fighting installations.
