Position Summary

The Senior MEP Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction projects. This role requires deep technical knowledge of MEP systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders — including clients, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and internal field teams — to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Planning

  • Lead full project lifecycle for MEP scopes, from preconstruction/estimating handoff through closeout and warranty
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and staffing plans
  • Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and constructability issues
  • Coordinate MEP systems design and installation with architects, engineers, GCs, and other trades

Budget & Financial Management

  • Own project P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and monthly financial reporting
  • Manage change order process, including scope identification, pricing, negotiation, and approval
  • Review and approve subcontractor/vendor invoices and pay applications
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or schedule

Scheduling & Execution

  • Develop and maintain master project schedules (CPM); track progress against milestones
  • Proactively identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans as needed
  • Coordinate material procurement, submittals, and equipment lead times
  • Oversee commissioning, start-up, and system turnover

Team & Subcontractor Management

  • Supervise and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, Superintendents, and field staff
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including bidding, contracts, and performance
  • Conduct regular project meetings (OAC, subcontractor coordination, internal progress)

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, local codes, and company safety standards
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC programs for MEP installations
  • Conduct site walks and inspections to ensure conformance to plans and specifications

Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, owners, and general contractors
  • Manage client expectations, communications, and issue resolution
  • Support business development through client relationship management and repeat business

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project documentation: RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily reports
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership
  • Ensure proper closeout documentation, as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranties

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10–18+ years of progressive experience in MEP construction project management
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, codes, and installation practices
  • Experience with design-build and/or design-assist delivery methods
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit/BIM coordination processes
  • Strong understanding of contracts, change order management, and cost control
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
