Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for LV cable installation and termination, control panel wiring, substation support, testing and commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. The ideal candidate should have experience in industrial or substation environments and be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

LV Cable Installation & Termination

  • Install, lay, dress, gland, and terminate LV power and control cables.
  • Perform cable routing, cable tray installation, cable identification, and cable dressing.
  • Conduct cable continuity and insulation resistance testing before energization.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify cable faults during installation and commissioning.

Control Panel Wiring

  • Carry out internal wiring, ferruling, cable dressing, and termination of control, relay, and distribution panels.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, termination schedules, and single-line diagrams.
  • Ensure all wiring complies with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform point-to-point verification and functional testing before commissioning.

Substation Installation & Maintenance

  • Assist in the installation, modification, and maintenance of electrical equipment in 132/11kV substations.
  • Support erection, shutdown, preventive maintenance, and emergency breakdown activities.
  • Work closely with engineers and supervisors to complete project activities on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications and project requirements.

Testing & Commissioning

  • Assist in testing and commissioning of transformers, switchgear, protection relays, CTs, PTs, control circuits, and associated equipment.
  • Perform pre-commissioning inspections, cable testing, insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and functional verification.
  • Support troubleshooting and fault-finding during commissioning.
  • Record test results and assist in preparing commissioning documentation.

Preventive Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Carry out preventive maintenance of substations, electrical panels, and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and perform corrective maintenance under supervision.
  • Assist in emergency maintenance and restoration during equipment failures.
  • Follow approved maintenance procedures and manufacturer recommendations.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare service reports, inspection reports, cable schedules, testing records, and commissioning documents.
  • Report technical issues and recommendations to supervisors promptly.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Follow all company HSE policies and client safety requirements.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and maintain safe working practices.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work activities.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable electrical standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and report unsafe conditions immediately.

General Responsibilities

  • Coordinate effectively with engineers, supervisors, technicians, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in site mobilization, demobilization, and project preparation.
  • Support shutdown projects, emergency call-outs, and commissioning works across various project locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the company.

Requirements

  • Diploma/ITI or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in LV cable installation, control panel wiring, substations, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience in 132/11kV substations is an advantage.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and testing procedures.
