Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Automation & Cybersecurity Engineer, responsible for designing, engineering, configuring and testing automation systems with a strong focus on cybersecurity. The role involves working extensively with Siemens automation platforms such as SICAM SCC, SICAM PAS, SICAM Device Manager (A8000 RTUs) and DIGSI 5 (SIP5) as well as integrating them into secure and high‑availability substation networks.
Key Responsibilities Substation Automation Systems & Utility Protocols Siemens Systems & Tools
- Develop and standardize substation HMI/SCADA using Siemens WinCC/ SCC.
- Engineer and integrate substation automation using SICAM PAS.
- Configure SICAM A8000 (SICAM Device Manager).
- Configure Bay Control Units using DIGSI 5 (SIPROTEC 5 series).
- Handle GOOSE engineering/configuration using DIGSI5.
- Perform automation system FAT and Support site troubleshooting.
IEC 61850 Engineering
- Create and manage IEC 61850 system configuration (SCL, ICD, CID, SCD files).
- Engineer GOOSE messaging, and MMS reporting.
- Validate interoperability among multi‑vendor IEDs.
SCADA & Protocol Integration
- Configure and troubleshoot substation communication protocols:
- IEC 61850
- IEC 60870‑5‑104
- Modbus TCP/RTU
- SNMP for network monitoring
Network Engineering
- Routing & Switching: Design, configure, and troubleshooting L2/L3 networks for substations.
- Design and Implement network redundancy using RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol), PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol), and HSR (High‑availability Seamless Redundancy).
- Manage VLANs, routing, switching, link aggregation, and network segmentation.
- Monitor network performance and ensure cybersecurity best practices.
- Conduct network testing, packet analysis, and root‑cause troubleshooting.
Cybersecurity for Substations
- Implement cybersecurity requirements for OT networks (IEC 62443, or utility standards).
- Configure VLANs, access lists, firewalls, NIDS, Anti-malware solution, secure remote access, and RBAC.
- Patch management, hardening of IEDs and servers.
- Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and assist in compliance reporting.
Documentation & Coordination
- Develop engineering documents: network diagrams, signal lists, Functional description, SCL files, IP plans, and test reports.
- Provide technical support during project execution and maintenance phases.
- Contribute to system upgrades, acceptance tests, and cybersecurity assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in substation automation or industrial communication networks.
- Strong understanding of IEC standards: IEC 61850, IEC 104, IEC 62443, etc.
- Hands‑on experience with Siemens tools: WinCC, SICAM PAS, SICAM SCC, A8000, DIGS
