We are seeking a Shopify Backend Developer to develop and optimise robust backend systems, custom Shopify applications, and seamless integrations that power AMOUAGE's digital ecosystem and support the continued evolution of our global luxury brand.

Your Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Digital Transformation, the Backend Developer – Shopify is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications, custom Shopify solutions, APIs, middleware, and system integrations that support business and operational requirements. The role drives backend performance, application stability, and platform scalability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performing digital solutions, optimise deployment and integration processes, and continuously enhance the reliability and efficiency of AMOUAGE's technology landscape.

Your Impact

• Develop scalable backend applications and services that align with the eCommerce ecosystem and business operations.
• Build and maintain custom Shopify applications, app extensions, and backend functionalities tailored to business requirements.
• Develop store specific features using shopify functions and UI extensions.
• Develop secure APIs, middleware, and integration systems.
• Build standalone applications and backend platforms aligned with operational and business needs.
• Develop backend solutions that integrate seamlessly with Shopify store functionalities and customer experiences.
• Build and maintain integrations between Shopify, 3PL, ERP, and internal systems.
• Develop backend services for automation workflows, synchronization processes, and operational efficiencies.
• Optimize API response times, server performance, application stability, and backend scalability.
• Implement retry mechanisms, logging, monitoring, caching, and error-handling strategies.
• Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and scalable digital experiences.
• Troubleshoot production issues, integration failures, API bottlenecks, and system performance concerns.
• Improve deployment workflows, release management processes, and environment optimization practices.
• Contribute to backend architecture improvements and long-term scalability planning.

Shopify Backend Development

• Strong hands-on experience with Shopify backend architecture and ecosystem.
• Proven experience in building scalable custom Shopify applications aligned with business and operational requirements.
• Develop backend functionalities that seamlessly integrate with store experiences.
• Creating app extensions and backend systems tailored to requirement specific workflows and platform needs.
• Strong experience in building middleware and integration layers between Shopify and external systems.

API & Integration Engineering

• Extensive experience with API integrations, webhooks, Third-party service integrations, Secure data exchange.

System Architecture & Scalability

• Strong expertise in Scalable application architecture, high-performance backend systems
• Error handling and performance optimization.

Database Engineering

• Experience with MongoDB / PostgreSQL / MySQL optimization
• Knowledge of Data modelling and schema design.

Security & Authentication

Strong understanding of:

• Secure API development
• Secure data-handling practices
• Authentication and token management.
