Construction Planning Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Construction Planning Engineer to develop, monitor, and control project schedules for construction projects from initiation to final handover. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in project planning, Primavera P6, scheduling, progress monitoring, delay analysis, resource planning, and project controls. Experience in structural steel, PEB, industrial, commercial, civil, or building construction is highly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Scheduling

• Develop project baseline schedules using Primavera P6.
• Prepare Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Develop detailed construction execution programs.
• Prepare master project schedules.
• Prepare engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules.
• Establish project milestones and deliverables.
• Develop resource-loaded schedules.
• Prepare manpower and equipment deployment plans.
• Coordinate schedule development with project teams.

Progress Monitoring & Control

• Monitor daily site progress.
• Update project schedules on weekly and monthly basis.
• Compare planned vs. actual progress.
• Identify schedule slippages and critical activities.
• Prepare recovery and acceleration plans.
• Perform critical path analysis.
• Forecast project completion dates.
• Monitor project performance against baseline.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with Project Managers and Site Engineers.
• Liaise with consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, logistics, and construction activities.
• Review subcontractor work programs.
• Ensure activities comply with contractual milestones.
• Participate in progress review meetings.

Reporting

• Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
• Prepare Weekly Progress Reports (WPR).
• Prepare Monthly Progress Reports (MPR).
• Develop S-Curves (Planned vs. Actual).
• Generate manpower histograms.
• Generate equipment histograms.
• Prepare KPI dashboards.
• Prepare executive management reports.
• Maintain planning documentation.

Project Controls

• Perform delay analysis.
• Prepare Time Impact Analysis (TIA).
• Support Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
• Monitor project risks affecting schedules.
• Track productivity and resource utilization.
• Recommend corrective actions to improve project performance.

Close-Out

• Support testing and commissioning schedules.
• Prepare project handover schedules.
• Assist in project close-out documentation.
• Ensure all planning records are updated and archived.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 4–8 years of construction planning experience.
• Minimum 3 years of UAE/GCC experience preferred.
• Experience in industrial, commercial, steel structure, PEB, civil, or infrastructure projects.
• Primavera P6 Certification is preferred.
