Civil Engineer – Site Coordination/Project Engineer

Stonecroft Building Contracting L.L.C. is urgently looking for a proactive and commercially aware Civil Engineer with UAE contracting experience.

This is a field-based position involving site visits, site surveys, measurements, quantity take-offs, preparation of scopes of work, obtaining subcontractor and supplier prices, cost comparisons, site coordination and project follow-up.

The successful candidate must have a strong network of reliable subcontractors and suppliers in Dubai and must be able to work independently across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit new and existing project sites across Dubai and other Emirates when required.
• Conduct site surveys, take accurate measurements and identify the complete scope of work.
• Review drawings, specifications, BOQs and client requirements.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, material requirements and preliminary cost estimates.
• Obtain competitive quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Maintain and expand the company’s network of qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
• Compare subcontractor quotations, negotiate rates and recommend suitable options to management.
• Prepare clear scope descriptions and pricing information for company quotations.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal site teams.
• Supervise and monitor civil, finishing and fit-out works at multiple project locations.
• Monitor quality, productivity, manpower, materials and progress against the agreed programme.
• Identify additional or variation works and record the relevant measurements and supporting details.
• Verify subcontractor completed quantities before recommending payments.
• Prepare site reports, progress updates, photographs and project documentation.
• Identify technical or commercial risks before work begins.
• Assist with material procurement, delivery coordination and project planning.
• Ensure that works comply with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements and quality standards.
• Follow up on pending quotations, approvals, material requirements and project issues.
• Report directly to management regarding site progress, costs, delays and subcontractor performance.
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of material samples, finish samples, sample boards and mock-ups for client or consultant approval.

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant UAE experience in building contracting, civil works, maintenance, renovation or interior fit-out projects.
• Valid UAE driving licence.
• Own car and willingness to travel regularly between project sites.
• Existing network of reliable subcontractors, suppliers and construction-related service providers in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of UAE construction rates, materials, workmanship and subcontractor pricing.
• Practical experience conducting site surveys, taking measurements and preparing quantity take-offs.
• Ability to understand drawings, specifications and BOQs.
• Experience obtaining, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Good knowledge of civil and finishing works, including blockwork, plastering, screeding, waterproofing, tiling, painting, gypsum works, concrete repairs and related activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and AutoCAD.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise urgent matters and manage several sites simultaneously.
• Immediate or short-notice availability is strongly preferred.
