AutoCAD Draftsman – Fabrication

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD Draftsman with experience in fabrication to prepare accurate technical drawings and detailed shop drawings for manufacturing and installation. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of fabrication processes, material specifications, and engineering standards, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, production teams, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Develop fabrication drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Produce cutting lists, material take-offs, and bill of materials (BOM).
• Coordinate with engineering, production, and site teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Revise drawings based on design changes and site feedback.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, quality requirements, and project specifications.
• Maintain organized drawing records and document revisions.
• Support production by providing accurate fabrication details and dimensions.
• Conduct site measurements when required.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience as an AutoCAD Draftsman in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D); knowledge of 3D drafting is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
• Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication details.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and mechanical drawings.
• Good knowledge of materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and structural steel detailing.
• Knowledge of software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Tekla Structures is an advantage.
• Familiarity with CNC cutting, laser cutting, or bending processes.
• Understanding of ISO standards and quality control procedures.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects.
