Job Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for promoting and selling the company's products and services by combining technical expertise with strong sales skills. The role involves identifying business opportunities, developing customer relationships, preparing technical and commercial proposals, and providing solutions that meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned markets and territories.
- Generate sales leads through networking, client visits, industry events, and market research.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Technical Support & Solutions
- Understand customer technical requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and site visits.
- Prepare technical specifications, compliance statements, and product submittals.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure technical feasibility.
Proposal & Tender Management
- Review customer inquiries, RFQs, and tender documents.
- Prepare technical and commercial quotations.
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing with customers.
- Follow up on submitted proposals and tenders until award.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate project handover from sales to project execution teams.
- Monitor project progress and maintain customer communication.
- Assist in resolving technical and commercial issues during project execution.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
- Provide regular market feedback to management.
- Identify opportunities for product improvement and new market segments.
Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities in CRM systems.
- Prepare weekly sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
- Track customer payments and support collection activities when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in marine, port, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering products.
- Experience with tendering, contracts, and project-based sales.
- UAE driving license preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proposal preparation and contract negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Customer-focused with strong relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
Preferred Experience (Marine & Port Industry)
- Marine fenders, quick release hooks, bollards, navigation aids, mooring systems, or port infrastructure equipment.
- Experience dealing with port authorities, EPC contractors, consultants, and government agencies.
- Knowledge of tender procedures for marine and infrastructure projects.
