The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use.
The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modelling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers an opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
Applicants must have a BS (MS preferred) in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problemsolving and time management skills.
Applicants should ideally be willing to work with rodent models including basic handling and surgical techniques. High proficiency in English is required. Excellent computational, experimental, or engineering skills are strongly preferred.
