Spatial UX/UI Designer
React Publishing and Advertising MENA
Description
Vision X is an Experiential and Immersive Technology studio based in UAE. We build the kind of work that stops people in their tracks — mixed-reality activations, holographic displays, interactive installations, and spatial experiences for government, cultural, and brand clients across the region. Every project we take on pushes what's technically possible.
THE ROLE
You'll design the spatial interfaces, interaction systems, and visual language for our XR and immersive experiences — from the first whiteboard sketch through to assets that go into production. This isn't a screen UX role: you're designing for headsets, holographic displays, interactive walls, and environments where the 'UI' might be a particle system or a physical gesture. You'll work closely with our XR developer and directly with our internal teams, and you'll need to be comfortable during the prototyping phase for creating illustrative steps of the journey.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
– Lead UX/UI design for XR experiences for different platforms — from user flows and wireframes through to final visual design.
– Design interaction systems for hand tracking, gaze-based input, and touch — with a clear understanding of comfort, ergonomics, and spatial constraints.
– Create the visual and motion language for in-headset UI, holographic content, and installation environments — including iconography, typography in 3D space and animation curves.
– Build and maintain a spatial design system that works across platforms and scales with our project pipeline.
– Prototype in Unity using UI Toolkit or UGUI — you don't need to write production code, but you need to build convincing, testable prototypes that communicate intent to the developer.
– Run usability testing in-headset, synthesise findings, and iterate quickly within sprint cycles.
– Produce final motion assets for holographic displays in After Effects and ensure delivery specs are met for fan arrays, holoboxes, and large-format installations.
– Collaborate directly with clients on creative direction and design sign-off — you're confident presenting your work and explaining spatial design decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Must-have)
– 4+ years of UX/UI design experience, with at least 2 years working on XR, spatial, or immersive projects.
– A portfolio that shows spatial thinking — not just screen design. We want to see work where you've solved depth, scale, interaction modality, or environmental context.
– Mastery of Figma for flows, wireframes, and component systems.
– Hands-on experience designing for at least one XR headset platform such as Quest or similar — with real shipped output.
– Motion design ability in After Effects: you understand timing, easing, and can produce alpha-channel content for display output.
– Ability to utilize Adobe Suite to create necessary assets. The ability to use Ai tools for new workflows including generating mockup images.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for holographic displays (fan arrays, holoboxes, transparent LCD) – Unity prototyping skills — UI Toolkit, UGUI, or Shader Graph for visual explorations.
– 3D layout or visualisation ability in Blender — for spatial mockups and environment-scale design decisions.
– Arabic language design experience — bilingual UI design for UAE audiences is a real bonus.
– Experience with large-format or installation contexts: wayfinding, ambient UI, multi-person interaction design.
