Fit-Out & Joinery Estimator
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fit-Out & Joinery Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, and project budgets for interior fit-out and joinery projects. The successful candidate will analyze drawings and specifications, conduct quantity take-offs, obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, and collaborate with design, procurement, production, and project teams to ensure competitive and profitable project bids.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimation & Cost Planning
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for fit-out, joinery, furniture, and interior finishing works.
- Develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and pricing schedules.
- Calculate material, labor, machinery, overhead, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost breakdowns.
- Analyze project risks and identify value engineering opportunities to optimize costs.
Tendering & Proposal Preparation
- Prepare and submit competitive tender proposals within specified deadlines.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and pricing.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
- Clarify tender requirements with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, and post-tender discussions.
- Maintain records of estimates, quotations, and tender documentation.
Technical Review
- Interpret architectural, interior design, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Assess joinery manufacturing requirements and installation methodologies.
- Verify quantities and scope of work to ensure comprehensive pricing.
- Coordinate with design and production teams to confirm technical feasibility and project requirements.
Project Handover & Cost Control
- Prepare project cost reports and support project handover to operations teams upon award.
- Assist project managers with budget monitoring and cost control during project execution.
- Review variation orders, change requests, and additional works pricing.
- Support procurement teams with material cost analysis and supplier evaluations.
Market Research & Vendor Management
- Maintain an updated database of material costs, labor rates, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations, and industry benchmarks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in estimating interior fit-out and joinery projects.
- Strong knowledge of joinery manufacturing processes, materials, and installation methods.
- Experience in preparing BOQs, quantity take-offs, and tender submissions.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior design, and shop drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimation software.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with fit-out contractors, joinery manufacturers, or interior contracting companies.
- Knowledge of UAE/GCC construction and fit-out market pricing.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier management.
- Understanding of project management and cost control principles.
- Professional certification in Quantity Surveying or Estimation is an advantage.
