Fit-Out & Joinery Interior Designer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fit-Out & Joinery Interior Designer to develop innovative interior fit-out solutions and custom joinery designs for residential, commercial, hospitality, and retail projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing design concepts, detailed joinery drawings, production documentation, material specifications, and coordinating with project teams, factory production, and site installation teams to ensure successful project execution.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Space Planning

• Develop interior design concepts, space planning layouts, and fit-out solutions based on client requirements.
• Prepare mood boards, material boards, and design presentations.
• Produce detailed interior design drawings, layouts, and 3D visualizations.
• Ensure designs are functional, aesthetically appealing, and compliant with project requirements.

Joinery Design & Technical Documentation

• Prepare detailed joinery shop drawings for custom furniture, cabinetry, wall paneling, reception counters, wardrobes, kitchens, display units, and other bespoke elements.
• Develop production drawings with dimensions, sections, elevations, and construction details.
• Coordinate with factory and production teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Specify materials, finishes, hardware, and accessories for joinery items.
• Review and revise drawings based on project requirements and site conditions.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, quantity surveyors, and contractors.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination meetings.
• Conduct site surveys and verify measurements before production and installation.
• Monitor project progress and ensure design intent is maintained throughout execution.
• Support procurement activities by preparing material specifications and BOQs (Bills of Quantities).

Site & Installation Support

• Review site conditions and resolve technical issues related to fit-out and joinery works.
• Coordinate with installation teams during project execution.
• Conduct inspections to ensure quality standards and design specifications are met.
• Assist with snagging, project handover, and client approvals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in interior fit-out and joinery design.
• Strong knowledge of custom joinery manufacturing processes and materials.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• Experience with 3D visualization software such as 3ds Max, V-Ray, Lumion, or Enscape.
• Strong understanding of construction detailing, shop drawings, and fit-out execution.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with fit-out contractors, joinery manufacturers, or interior design firms.
• Knowledge of UAE/GCC building regulations and industry standards.
• Experience with Revit and BIM workflows.
• Familiarity with procurement processes and material sourcing.
• Experience in high-end residential, hospitality, retail, or commercial fit-out projects.
