Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Site Mechanical Engineer to supervise and inspect all mechanical building services on site. The role includes overseeing installations such as HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and LPG systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards and local authority regulations. The ideal candidate will manage QA/QC processes, review contractor submittals, maintain accurate records and support testing and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise contractor installations of building services including HVAC, drainage, domestic water, fire protection and LPG systems to ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, international, British and local standards
• Inspect and record all mechanical works carried out on site
• Verify quality control of mechanical works to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings and contractual documents
• Review and approve construction documents, submittals and As-Built drawings
• Conduct final inspections prior to Authority inspections (DM, DEWA or other local authorities) to ensure compliance with approved drawings
• Review contractor QA test reports for mechanical works
• Maintain proper site records for tests, inspection requests, approved materials and QA/QC documentation
• Review, comment on and sign off contractor inspection requests
• Conduct daily surveillance inspections to ensure contractor compliance with drawings, specifications and approvals
• Prepare Field Observations and issue NCRs as required
• Conduct off-site inspections of mechanical works and materials
• Ensure material testing and commissioning comply with project specifications and standards; reject non-compliant materials and oversee replacements
• Review and sign off contractor daily reports
• Maintain records of completed works for payments and As-Built drawings
• Document contract activities and make notes relevant for potential claims
• Carry out technical review of materials and equipment procured for the project
• Coordinate preparation and implementation of testing and commissioning programs, informing all relevant parties of requirements

Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Site Mechanical Engineer on building projects for at least 10 years relevant experience and around 5 years in UAE.
• Hands-on experience supervising HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and LPG systems
• Knowledge of international standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, British Standards) and local authority regulations
• Experience in QA/QC processes, material inspection, testing, commissioning and documentation
• Familiarity with As-Built drawings, NCRs, Field Observations and project claims documentation

Skills and Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and construction methods
• Excellent site supervision, inspection and quality control skills
• Ability to review, comment and approve contractor documents and reports
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate QA/QC records
• Effective communication and coordination with contractors, engineers and project teams
• Knowledge of construction safety, testing and commissioning processes
