MEP PROCUREMENT ENGINEER

Job Purpose

To manage and coordinate the procurement of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Fighting, ELV, and associated construction materials for ongoing projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost optimization, compliance with project specifications, and adherence to company procurement procedures.

Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Procurement Planning & Material Sourcing

• Review project BOQs, drawings, specifications, and material submittals to identify procurement requirements.
• Prepare procurement schedules in line with project construction programs.
• Source materials from approved vendors and manufacturers as per project specifications and consultant requirements.
• Identify alternative approved products and suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Planning Departments to prioritize procurement activities.

2. Supplier & Vendor Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and conduct technical and commercial evaluations.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranty conditions, and commercial terms.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and commercial competitiveness.
• Support vendor registration and prequalification processes.

3. Technical Procurement

• Review technical compliance of materials with project specifications, authority requirements, and approved submittals.
• Coordinate with Engineering and QA/QC teams to ensure procured materials meet project standards.

• Civil Defence
• ADDC
• SEWA
• MOIAT
• Consultant requirements
• Ensure procurement of approved makes and brands as specified in project documents.

4. Purchase Order Management

• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with approved procurement procedures.
• Monitor supplier acknowledgments and delivery commitments.
• Track purchase orders until material delivery and closure.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of procurement records.

5. Cost Control & Budget Monitoring

• Obtain competitive pricing to achieve project budget targets.
• Analyze cost comparisons and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain procurement logs and monitor budget utilization.
• Support commercial teams with procurement-related cost analysis and variation quotations.

6. Logistics & Delivery Coordination

• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Coordinate with stores, logistics teams, and project sites regarding material dispatch and receipt.
• Monitor imported material shipments, customs clearance, and freight activities.
• Resolve delivery delays and expedite critical materials as required.

7. Material Tracking & Project Coordination

• Maintain procurement trackers and material status reports.
• Provide regular updates to Project Managers regarding material availability and expected delivery dates.
• Identify procurement risks and propose mitigation plans.
• Attend internal coordination meetings and project review meetings.

8. Documentation & ERP Management

• Maintain procurement records, supplier databases, and commercial documentation.
• Update ERP systems with procurement transactions and material tracking information.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and audit requirements.

9. Contract & Commercial Support

• Review supplier quotations, contracts, and commercial terms.
• Assist in finalizing supply agreements and annual contracts.
• Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations.
• Handle procurement-related claims, shortages, and warranty issues.

Experience

• Experience working with MEP Contracting Companies in UAE.
• Strong knowledge of: HVAC Systems, Plumbing Systems,Fire Fighting Systems,Electrical Systems & ELV Systems
