Job Description – Carpenter Foreman (Formwork Foreman)

Project: High-Rise Building Construction Project – Dubai, UAE

Position Summary

The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for supervising all formwork and carpentry activities associated with the construction of the high-rise building project. The role ensures that formwork systems are erected, modified, and dismantled safely and efficiently while meeting project quality and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision

• Supervise and lead carpenters, shuttering carpenters, and formwork crews.
• Plan and organize daily formwork activities in line with construction schedules.
• Allocate manpower and equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
• Monitor productivity and ensure work targets are achieved.

Formwork Operations

• Supervise installation, alignment, adjustment, and dismantling of formwork systems.
• Ensure formwork is constructed according to approved shop drawings and structural requirements.
• Oversee formwork for foundations, rafts, columns, shear walls, lift cores, beams, slabs, staircases, and other structural elements.
• Verify dimensions, levels, verticality, and alignment before concrete pouring.

High-Rise Construction Activities

• Coordinate climbing formwork, jump form, table form, and conventional formwork systems where applicable.
• Ensure proper installation of safety platforms, working decks, and access systems.
• Monitor cycle times to maintain floor-to-floor construction schedules.

Quality Control

• Conduct internal inspections before consultant and QC inspections.
• Ensure formwork is rigid, stable, and capable of supporting concrete loads.
• Identify and correct deficiencies before concrete placement.
• Coordinate with steel fixing and concrete teams to ensure readiness for casting.

Coordination

• Coordinate with Site Engineers, Surveyors, QC Engineers, and Construction Managers.
• Work closely with steel fixing, concrete, and MEP teams to ensure smooth construction progress.
• Assist in resolving site issues related to formwork and structural construction.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce project HSE procedures and safe work practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for workers.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and safe access arrangements.
• Monitor lifting activities related to formwork materials and equipment.

Reporting

• Monitor daily manpower productivity and progress.
• Report material requirements, shortages, and site issues.
• Assist in preparing weekly progress updates and work plans.

Qualifications

• High School Certificate or Technical Trade Qualification.
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in formwork and concrete construction.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Carpenter/Formwork Foreman on high-rise building projects in GCC/UAE preferred.
• Experience with conventional and system formwork such as Doka, Peri, Meva, or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and formwork plans.
