Job Description
The Civil Inspector will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and inspection of stormwater drainage and microtunneling works. The role ensures all civil activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and authority requirements.
- Review and apply all applicable codes, standards, and project specifications related to stormwater and microtunneling works (e.g., pipelines, shafts, chambers, culverts, and outfalls).
- Conduct daily inspections to verify that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and specifications.
- Monitor and inspect excavation, shoring, backfilling, microtunneling drives, shaft construction, reinforcement, concrete pouring, waterproofing, and finishing of stormwater structures.
- Verify alignment, gradients, and levels for stormwater pipelines, chambers, and manholes to ensure compliance with design.
- Ensure the Contractor’s works comply with Dubai Municipality (DM), RTA, and relevant authority standards and approved quality control procedures.
- Record and report daily manpower, equipment, and material deliveries on-site.
- Supervise the execution of concrete curing, coating, and lining works for stormwater-related structures.
- Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) in issuing site instructions and verifying the contractor’s responses and close-out.
- Coordinate with the contractor to resolve civil works issues and follow up on corrective actions.
- Prepare daily inspection reports, including observations, progress updates, test results, and safety notes.
- Support surveying and measurement verification for pipe routes, invert levels, and structural tolerances.
- Monitor and support the testing, commissioning, and handover of stormwater networks and associated civil works.
- Assist in reviewing RFIs, method statements, and variance requests related to civil activities.
- Coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors during inspections and document all findings.
