Position Description
As an Electromechanical Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical and electromechanical systems and components, as well as leading lab development efforts. Your role requires a deep understanding of both mechanical engineering principles and electromechanical systems, with a focus on integrating electrical components into mechanical designs and setting up and optimizing lab environments for testing and development.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Design and Development
· Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems, including motors, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
· Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
· Perform simulations and analysis to validate designs, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
· Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate electrical components into mechanical designs, ensuring seamless functionality.
Prototyping and Testing
· Develop and build prototypes of mechanical and electromechanical systems, using a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques.
· Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, identifying and addressing any design issues or performance gaps.
· Document test results and provide recommendations for design improvements.
Lab Development and Management
· Lead the development, setup, and optimization of laboratory environments for testing and development purposes
· Ensure that lab equipment, tools, and instruments are properly calibrated, maintained, and updated.
· Establish and enforce safety protocols and best practices in the lab to ensure a safe working environment.
· Develop and implement testing procedures and methodologies to support the validation of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
Manufacturing Support
· Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are optimized for production and assembly.
· Provide technical support during the manufacturing process, addressing any issues related to design or materials.
· Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures to ensure the consistency and reliability of manufactured products.
Project Management
· Manage engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.
· Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
· Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure project success.
Documentation and Compliance
· Maintain thorough documentation of all design, development, and lab activities, including specifications, schematics, test results, and lab protocols.
· Ensure that all designs and lab procedures comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
· Prepare and present technical reports and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Duties
· Perform additional duties as required or undertake other assignments as delegated by your line manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field. .
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical and/or electromechanical engineering, including experience in lab development and management.
· Proven experience in designing and developing complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
· Experience in setting up and managing laboratory environments for testing and development.
· Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
· Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science.
