Jacobs is seeking a Resident Engineer (RE) for Hospital Construction, who will be the lead on-site representative of the Construction Supervision Consultant, responsible for the overall technical supervision, quality assurance, and progress monitoring of large-scale hotel development projects. The RE will lead a multi-disciplinary site supervision team, ensuring that all construction works are executed in strict accordance with contract documents, specifications, drawings, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines, with a particular focus on the unique requirements and high-quality finishes. This role requires extensive experience in complex building projects, particularly in the hospitality sector, and a strong ability to manage stakeholders and deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and manage the on-site supervision team, including Resident Engineers (REs), Assistant Resident Engineers (AREs), and Site Inspectors across various disciplines (Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP, FF&E).
Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure effective coordination within the supervision team.
Foster a proactive and collaborative site environment focused on quality, safety, and project delivery.
2. Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for the client, contractor, and other consultants on-site.
Oversee and direct all aspects of construction supervision, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and international/local building codes.
Conduct regular and thorough inspections of all construction activities, including civil, structural, architectural finishes, and complex MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, IT, security, kitchen, laundry equipment).
Pay meticulous attention to the quality of finishes, detailing, and aesthetics critical for hotel brand standards and guest experience.
Review and approve contractor's shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and samples, ensuring they meet project requirements and design intent.
Witness and approve site tests (e.g., concrete, steel, soil, MEP systems commissioning) and ensure proper documentation.
Implement and enforce the project's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan, identifying and addressing non-conformances promptly.
Monitor the installation and integration of FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
3. Project Progress & Schedule Management:
Monitor the contractor's progress against the approved project schedule.
Identify potential delays, assess their impact, and recommend corrective actions to the Project Director.
Review and verify contractor's progress reports and payment applications.
Attend and contribute to regular site meetings (progress, technical, coordination) with the client, contractor, and other stakeholders.
4. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to project-specific and statutory HSE regulations on site.
Monitor the contractor's implementation of their safety plan and conduct regular safety walk-throughs.
Report any safety incidents or concerns to the Project Director and ensure appropriate measures are taken.
