Senior Formwork Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Formwork Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, analysis, and implementation of formwork and scaffolding systems for construction projects. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective temporary works solutions while supporting project teams throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Engineering

• Design and review formwork, falsework, and scaffolding systems for concrete structures.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and method statements.
• Verify structural adequacy and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Develop temporary works designs for complex structures including high-rise buildings, bridges, tunnels, and industrial facilities.
• Conduct load analysis and stability assessments for formwork and support systems.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, contractors, and consultants regarding temporary works requirements.

Project Management

• Support project planning by developing formwork methodologies and construction sequences.
• Monitor formwork installation and dismantling activities to ensure compliance with approved designs.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams during construction.
• Identify and resolve engineering issues related to temporary works.
• Review subcontractor submissions and shop drawings.

Safety & Quality

• Ensure all formwork systems comply with safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Conduct risk assessments and participate in safety reviews.
• Perform site inspections and audits to verify proper installation and usage.
• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions when required.
• Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project execution.

Commercial & Client Support

• Assist in preparing technical proposals and tender submissions.
• Optimize formwork solutions to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Provide technical presentations and support to clients and project stakeholders.
• Evaluate formwork materials and equipment requirements.

Leadership

• Mentor junior engineers and drafting personnel.
• Lead technical reviews and design coordination meetings.
• Support workforce development through training and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification preferred.
• 8–15+ years of experience in formwork, scaffolding, temporary works, or structural engineering.
• Experience with major construction projects such as high-rise, or commercial developments.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methods.
• Expertise in formwork and scaffolding design principles.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as:
• AutoCAD
• Revit
• Knowledge of international standards and temporary works regulations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
